Back in like 1998 in college me and a couple of friends that were big fans had the bright idea one night to try to get Nick on the phone. We searched for anyone with the last name of Hexum in Omaha and only came up with one result and called. Nick was not there (unsurprisingly) but we talked with his mom for a couple of minutes and she was super nice, way nicer than anyone getting randomly called should be. I finally got to meet the whole band many years later when I was working for a radio station. I mentioned the story to Nick and he said that he remembered his mom telling him about the call. Nick and all of the rest of the guys were some of the most down to earth, chill people I've met in the business.

How amazing to see a documentary video on 311, they don't get covered nearly enough. All time favorite band. I know tons about them but this video still had details i wasn't aware of! The 90s had so much incredible alt rock that 311 are often forgotten. But they were among the best to do a multi-genre crossover that sounded genuine and not half-assed. Also, i think Transistor is among the best albums of their era. Everything they did up to 2003 was awesome though.

311 is a timeless treasure of talent and head-bobbin' grooves, since "All Mixed Up" came out for me in highschool. Their drummer, Chad Sexton, was and still is my ultimate influence on playing the drums. Even after I graduated with a BA in percussion performance in 2005, to this day, at age 45 and not playing in any bands, they are still my #1 band to listen and play along with. Sadly, even though i'll never come to the level of Sexton, I still remember, fondly, of how awestruck I was with his grooves in the band, as a collective.

In 7th grade art class, back in the 90s, we had to do a project where we made really big folders to put our paintings and drawings inside of. We had to make a stencil and use it in the design on the folder itself. I was a huge fan and used 311. This girl in my class told the teacher that it meant KKK. They wouldn't let me do my project so I noticed she was doing Master P and I went to the principal and teacher and told them that she was wrong about mine but that Master P talked about dealing drugs and murder. I didn't actually care that she was doing it nor did I dislike Master P but I had to retaliate because she was so wrong. They ended up not letting either of us do our projects the way we wanted so my rebellious ass opted out . I'm still a big fan and just saw them in concert last month. Their music has helped me get through so much and formed my identity as a young, confused male growing up in the 90s. I'm still confused but I credit 311 for inspiring me to stay positive and keep going.

Been listening since '96. Since then, I've become enthralled with various genres at one point or another: gritty 90s rap, jam bands, metal, then death metal. Now, I truly do listen to almost any genre, and through it all I've listened to everything these guys have put out, and I've seen them live at least 25 times. I'll be taking my grown children for their first show this Fall. There is nothing like 311, and nothing like a 311 show. F the BS it's time to throw down!

Finally. I’ve been waiting for you to do 311 since I found your channel years ago….you did do the Scott Stapp fight episode as you mentioned, but thank you for doing a full episode on them. 311 is my favorite band of all time, hands down, since I first heard the blue album at age 10. Met em several times, saw them for the first time in 00, saw them in 22 in Chicago for a 2 night set of Blue/Transistor.

When they first started playing them on the radio I thought they were Sublime for the longest time. Lol. Until one of my friends bought the CD.

I saw 311 at HOB Las Vegas around 1999 or 2000 and was *blown away*, great songs and a great live band. Linkin Park would be NOWHERE if 311 hadn't done it first.

I am a fan of 311 myself, and 311 had a musical style that was everyone was into funk, punk, rock, metal, rap, and reggae. The Blue Album came out at the right time in 1995 because the Vans Warped Tour and the ESPN X-Games were about to take off in a big way.

As a Yes fan, I have heard vague mentions that Eddie Offord could get a little bit "out there" at times, but he was almost like Yes' George Martin in the early 1970's.

I worked at a CD store when the blue album came out. It was a resort town, so a lot of tourists from all over would come in. It's amazing how fast "Down" got huge, and how popular that album became. We would put it on, and people would ask who it was and walk out with a copy.
