It's not mid budget movie by a long shot. 300m is high budget but not the 'highest'. Mid budget is 50-100. However, 300m for a RACING movie is a recipe for wreckage. I think they're taking their time because they realized they need to de-age Pitt for it to be even remotely plausible

Yeah like most marvel movies cost a few hundred mil but they also are essentially just live action animated movies with all the (admittedly dogshit) cgi. A racing movie where they actually filmed scenes practically on track is probably gonna be a bit cheaper, so 300+ should be a good amount to work with. Only time will tell if they use it well though

I mean the story is obviously gonna be ridiculous but it is gonna give us some of the most cinematic and over the top sequences and I am all for it. It’s like the gran turismo movie, the story mid and kind of the ridiculous but the watching race cars roar seeing the engines move felt is cool.

It sounds like they are aiming for Grand Prix, with the real life sets and all that, but are actually shooting at Driven. I'd be happy if it ended up like a modern F1 version of days of thunder, to be honest. Cheesy and over the top but not in an uncanny way. It will age very quick (regarding what you already mentioned plus the 26 reg changes), so they better make so that it's enjoyable for it self and not just for name dropping Lewis or something. But I'm glad they have real drivers or at least one actually look over the script, there is an interview where Nicki Lauda talks about his work on Rush and if he hadn't told them that they are idiots and the script is sh*t (at least that's how I imagine him saying it) the movie would have turned out very silly indeed. Edit: that all said, I wouldn't get appel tv extra to watch it tho. So even if it turns out good (or fun at least), I probably won't see it. And regarding the 2000s driver, isn't that just Nando? Depends on how 90s but a test drive in 99 and a full drive in 00, that would be Jenson Button returning for half a season... Which.. well seems unlikely. But he's only one year older than Nando and when Schumacher came back he was about that Age as well. It's unlikely but not impossible. I could see an F1 team filling a gab with, let's say Kimi Raikoennen for a while, if he'd be down to it. (Not saying this will ever happen, but with the marketing stuff and all that, I can't say it's impossible.)

@@thegridgab Yes. Sorry I couldn’t remember the name last night. I thought it was called something else but yes that’s the one. Great movie. The American guy retires from F1 at 32. This Brad Pitt movie should be interesting. It’s like me, I completely retired from playing hockey a few years back (I am a ice hockey goalie) but I got a call from my cousin 2 weeks ago saying that he was putting a team together for a street hockey tournament. It’s a one day affair and I’m 48. We last played in this tournament when I was 37. So maybe I’ll make a movie about it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It will be for general casual fans, sort of like Rush but with one foot a bit deeper in the Hollywood well. "Exclusive to Apple TV" also translates to "also available on the high seas" to a lot of people. Cinema, DVD/BR and a streaming service that folk actually subscribe to would be best. Getting real fed up with needing 6+ subscriptions to see the next big thing. Will the film age? Yes, of course it will, but I still enjoy Grand Prix from the 1960s. Nobody can really comment on quality until it's actually released though.

The Senna series on Netflix looks promising. I would also like to see a Pironi vs Villeneuve movie although Ferrari would never support a film that could put their cars in a bad light.

The whole premise of 60 years old Brad Pitt competing in f1 already destroys any credibility the movie is trying to have, now they can still change it and say he was racing in f1 in the late 2000s and that his character is in his late 40s but even that is barely credible.
@thegridgab
@thegridgab 24 күн бұрын
I agree, late 2000's or even 2010's would be better but Pitt would age out of that

@@thegridgab Yeah that's the main problem, It would have been far more believable if Brad Pitt's character was brought in as a team principle trying to turn the team around similar to his role in Moneyball, it would have also feel less similar to the plot of Driven.

@@DkbBan Javier Bardem is playing the team principal who calls Brad Pitt from retirement to be the second driver on the team and to also mentor Damson Idris character but not to be a team principle, it would be like if Williams called Michael Andretti to drive the second car and mentor Logan Sargeant🤣

It goes a way if a real occurance in F1 (rush, gran prix, senna) sounds ten times better as a script than the regurgitated floss storylines Hollywood comes up with. I always wondered how many (or few) barebone storylines there really are. You can easily spot the Jesus story all around, the self sacrifice. There’s the ‘discarded maverick being called upon to save the world solo’ story. The ‘old pro coaching the young gun’ story. The ‘persevere and your dream’ll become true’ story. The ‘tough guy develops his empathy’ story. And a few more of those utterly unrealistic themes. They get used, and used, and reused, and overused… Yawn. I won’t watch this one.
