This update was needed in a sense. Skyblock has so little development/admin team that its pretty laughable for a game that consistently gets 30k concurrent players and 40+ at its max. However, you can’t help but wish that they find a different way to get monetized. Skyblock may not promote themselves as a non p2w game, however, their community does. We’re proud of the fact that we can get any items without spending a single dime. Instead, we put hours of our time and effort into grinding the hell out of the game. With the new features, those hours of time and effort that we put in can easily be skipped through a single button. Seeing someone skip through everything we went through, just because they have a little bit more disposable income, with a few clicks just makes it seem like everything we did was useless. A huge number of skyblock players are under 16 years old. Most of them don’t have any income let alone any disposable income. When they see other players easily bypass them while the only thing they can do is twiddle their thumbs and watch enviously, it really frustrates them. I’ve been there. I’ve played a lot of small non p2w multiplayer games and felt the frustration as they turn into a p2w game. Now, Skyblock is no where near small. However, relative to its potential, yeah Skyblock could still be considered a small game. All in all, I am not saying that Skyblock’s new update was in any way wrong or bad for the game. In fact, being p2w usually increases the games popularity and exposure. I just hope that this does turn into one of those instances where both Hypixel and Skyblock can grow more and more.

Why is the cookie running out in IRL days and not ingame time?

As I sad in another video covering the update, I really wished they could have taken a different approach to get bits. The current method in my opinion, could influence more players to just stop playing. The reason being, if a player stops playing for any reason, they could come back miles behind other players. This which in turn, may make the player just quit. Anyone have any sort of idea that Hypixel could prevent this? Maybe minions can gain bits (slowly of course) and make upgrades able to be skipped with bits for a high price.

Okay. When I first saw this, I said it ruined for me cause it was P2W. Seeing you go over it all now it actually makes more sense. I may get back into skyblock

If you buy cookies with bits, then sell them at bazaar, its paying for coins pretty much

The only bad thing about this update is that players that have not worked hard at all, but have extra irl money can make hundreds of millions of coins just by basically, irl trading advertised by hypixel. Anyways, even without this update irl trading would exist, but now it supports hypixel and should help the majority of the player base stay engaged in the game.

the only bad stuff is that they added like 3 new leg talismans that are like 50 mil+ per and a bunch of other stuff that's 50-200m per item. they also added a few qol things that massively inflated certain items and decreased others. Such as overflux. Its now 35m last week it was 50mil. Superior went up in price by 5m. Basically they added too much that's way too expensive. It gives newish players the concept that all the money u work for means less and less over time. This is a concept that i feel has been looked over by the admin team. This will increase the quality of skyblock but the sheer amount of people quitting because they feel as if there work is meaningless is insane. They all say its because this is basically legalized irl trading which it is in a way but not fully. See the coins in the bazaar thing was super smart but it still makes people feel as if 50 mil cant get u anywhere any more. All the new stuff is INSANELY overpriced with gold being the main meta. Not to mention the fishing. They made it so slow its rly boring. It should have been the other way around, so people would think they are making more and more progress as it goes on even if its less than what it is now. Its just more entertaining. Great update overall but they should make the new items significantly cheaper maybe 20% off at least.

And just remember, if anyone says hypixel is pay to win, take note from the smash community, and say: “HOES MAD” over and over

Maybe this is already a thing but how about you add a "bought for money" kind of tag to the ones you buy with gems so they cant be sold on the bazaar for Skyblock money? And you can also remove it from bazaar and spawn an npc as an event every so often? Just my thoughts.

Finally, mining and fishing will be slightly less boring! Vein miner armor!

they should have made it if you get enough coins, you can trade it in for gems, like 50k per gem. that way if you grind for along time, you can stay f2p but also get the gem upgrades

It's sort of p2w. You DON'T need to pay money to play, but you need to pay money to stay at the top. They're doing this so they can get more employees. This way they can counter the irl trading.
