The thing I take a bit of an issue with is that unfortunately you’ve been out of a contract for a while. Clubs look at that. Just a NISA contract and some lower league German teams doesn’t seem to be enough for a larger contract somewhere. It’s tough to be in your situation and be this picky about opportunities. You’re lucky to not have to worry about the monetary side of things, which is a huge privilege. That should allow you to, for the sake of going higher, get a smaller contract somewhere and really prove yourself. The game is like a meat market, there’s always someone fresher and better somewhere, which is why you have to always showcase yourself as much as possible in order to continue to be chosen. I hope things work out, but it seems like you’re really narrowing down your chances. I could be wrong though

Did you just say he is lucky to not have to worry about money? He has created businesses that make him money… There is nothing lucky about that. That is called hard work… Just because other footballers are unwilling to work hard off the field to make money doesn’t make him lucky…
@hamidbabaali10

@@jakegoodman2392 I know he didn’t “get lucky” regarding the making money off the pitch. Yes of course that all came through years of hard work. I’m not implying that he didn’t work hard for it. What I’m saying is that he has that privilege of not having to worry about the money like other players do. Therefore he can take this position of being more picky with opportunities. Most players don’t get to do that. All they know is soccer, so they have to go for any little contract they find. I saw that situation in Brazil when I played second division in São Paulo there. So yes it’s not luck exactly, he is still fortunate though to be in that position of privilege that he is in. It came through hard wok, but there is still fortune in being in that situation.

@@hamidbabaali10you are literally missing Spencer’s whole point my man… One of the things he is saying in this video is that players should utilize what is now available to pretty much anyone (the internet) to make enough income where they can be in a similar situation to Spencer. We also must have different definitions of privilege. Google the definition of privilege. You will see that the definition is saying that a privilege is only considered a privilege if it is only available to specific people. If someone is watching this video right now then that means they have access to the internet. So by definition Spencer making money on the internet cannot be considered a privilege to everyone watching this video because everyone watching this video can make money online like him. So to make it seem like he can only do this because of “privilege” and others can’t is absolutely insane. Part of this video is to inspire footballers to find alternate streams of income so that it can allow them to keep pursuing the dream of playing professional soccer. Most people give up because of the lack of income and uncertainty over where the income will be coming from. Spencer is literally explaining how that does not need to be the case anymore

@@jakegoodman2392 does he want to be a footballer or a businessman? Seems a little like he's picking comfort over his career (nothing wrong with that), if he's ruling out opportunities when a lot lower level pros sign a new 9 month contract every year in a new part of the world. He's in his mid 20s and has played a few months of pro, I may be misinterpreting what he's saying in the video, but dosen't seem from a football perspective that he's making the right choice

Bro , I believe you need to be playing. If you really want to climb to the highest level possible you need to make it happen, not just wait for it to happen. Waiters work in restaurants.

I think your totally right. But at the same time, USL championship still seems amazing to play professional in because there is a lot of money flowing into that league. If I play in the championship and cap there, and can’t move on, i would be satisfied with my career.

Alot of money but it doesn't go to the players. There are 4th division players in Europe making up to 10x more money than USL contracts
@robertdavies3593
@robertdavies3593 2 жыл бұрын
@@rq7284 For the most part that's not going to be the case anymore. Now USL players are all going be making a minimum of $2,700 a month through salary / rent. Which is going to be a lot more than the vast majority of 4th division players in Europe.

@@rq7284 Yeah, that's why I said the vast majority of 4th division players in Europe won't be making over $2,700 a month. England is going to be one of those outlier countries. Also, the average player in Turkey's 4th league isn't going to be making over that. There's probably just a few clubs there with money throwing it at players to get promoted as quickly as possible.

Damn I would rly rly rly love to hear the business side of your life. I understand you wanting to keep your business private, but honestly, young footballers would benefit greatly from your example of the business that you have created on the side to sustain a great lifestyle.

Great channel. You've got the soul of a mid 90's over my dead body central defender. Keep going for it. I'm 48 and I'm still twitchy, match fit and would hop on a plane to start a career if I was that lucky. At 28 I was cold-calling countries with the smallest populations with the most amount of pro clubs starting from the top down-armed with a vhs tape to prove out my playing acumen. Usually a team in the second division will say yes if you pay for the flight. In your case your cv is your channel. Be thankful you're still playing at a shop-window level. The wisest thing I can say is this...at the highest levels you can pull a central defender out of his situation place him down a level tell him to play the wing and he'd do things the wingers do to the defenders at his level. Every player should aspire to have the attacking skills of Maradona or Cryuff or Theirry Henry...start going there on your own watch...you'll evolve...

You’re being too picky. Nobody knows your name at the professional level, you need to be willing to start at a low level and climb your way up the ladder. It all depends on how you perform. The game doesn’t owe you anything

Staying in the US caps your salary at USL money if you are over the age of 20. If you truly want to progress you need to leave. But if you are ok with maxing out at USL enjoy the beautiful weather in Cali.
