Try as they might, it was a day of persistence and patience for the Swiss who were coaxing and willing ‘BoatOne’ to flight with the only realistic option being a tow-up from the Chase Boat. This they did four times and were rewarded with just minutes of flight time before the boat came down into displacement and the process of speed-building started again. After just over three hours on the water, the team called it a day and wisely headed back to base.
Whilst the Swiss called it a day, American Magic stayed out and, as is so often the case with sailing, a golden hour occurred late into the afternoon and the best breeze of the day filtered in for a short while producing 6.5 knots of maximum pressure. Plenty enough for Patriot, she was smartly up on her foils on a solid upwind with four tacks mirrored by a downwind leg with just three gybes - the best sailing of the day. An attempt at another lap saw touchdowns through the manoeuvres and the team called it a day, docking in just before 6pm after five hours on the water.

If Patriot can lift off consistently in light air, it's a huge advantage. It will be interesting to see how this design handles big winds. So far, this design is quite impressive.

I seen A, article where A, naval architect by name of Guillaume Vardier had a major roll in the design of AC75 for America.

I really enjoy that the sound the boats make is captured for the reports here.. I know it doesn't actually mean anything , but I have always enjoyed how the rigging comes alive once the sails start working at speed, and these big boats groan, like some giant creature. I guess the old days of retiring a boat to a tourist location and selling rides in an americas cup boat are not going to happen with this kind of deck space, but it would be one heck of a ride , and much safer than spending for a seat in space travel.

It seems to me that a recumbent position would have less energy delivered than a vertical position

Couple of things. 1. the first interviewer was really great. 2. Looks like 6.5 knots is the key (and INEOS takes off at less than that…) 3. It was apparent that the Cyclor from the US boat (John) already knows that lying recumbent is forced by their boat design and reduces their power output by about 10% (however much extra they re producing than before…).

Some funny asking and anyways no team telling an answer to it! Why this video teams not getting all data about wind, speed, and angle to then telling what te tems are,be and trying? Question some fun never get an answer its creepy laughing? AC followers should getting data or telling they answers? They experts or only reporters?

If I understood you correctly, no team wants to reveal too much in an interview out of concern the competition will either a) know the secrets to their boats and possibly adapt them, or b) discover something about their race strategy. Unfortunately, we as spectators cannot know the answers to the most interesting questions about the teams for the reasons I just mentioned; that's the nature of the game. Other sports are as secretive as the AC. Look at F1 for example.

@@jamesaron1967 I think his point is: since the AC teams (understandably) won't give us the data about speed, angle, VMG and so on, why can't the video team try to measure them and give them to us? Personally I don't know if they don't do it because of policies or because of technical reasons.
