I brought Baobab seeds when I was in Senegal in 2004. This year I stumbled upon them once again and tried to grow a plant out of 15 of them. Surprisingly I have now 3 healthy plants, which grew out of 19 years old seeds! I even tried the completely dried white fruit which tasted perfectly fine. Really an astounding plant this is! I will try to keep them as long as possible 😊

Try boiling them with sugar and ginger and you'll get a tasty juice. Try adding lemon and/or orange juice once cooled, to get a rich exotic juice.

Can they be grown in the desert. Since people want to harvest them . They should plan to grow them.

Excellent! I-m a bit of a baobab addict and now have three species from seed, now 3 years old, and two more species germinating. Amazing trees. I have some old seed in the kitchen which I might try, given youir success.

It's the second time I've watched this wonderful documentary. Fantastic tree - it's fascinating to seer the diverse conditions under which they will grow and thrive. I share my terrace here in the south of Spain with an increasing number of seed-grown baobabs including some of the Madagascan species.

The best documentary about the African baobab.( Most of the other documentaries deal with the Madagascar baobab.).

I got about 15 seeds out of a Boab fruit (Adansonia gregorii), native to the Kimberly region of North West Australia. I scored the hard shell of the seeds, soaked them in hot water and 3 days later all 15 have sprouted. I have about 30 fruits so I expect to get about 300 trees planted out in less than a month.

I'm just germinating boab seeds to add to my baobab collection. It's amazing that a baobab species got to Australia when the rest are African or from Madagascar.

Having them sprout and getting viable plants is 2 different things. I have 5 small plants so far from about 25 seeds.

The first time I grew them I had 7 seeds and 6 germinated and are now 3 years old. I use the file, soak and peel method to speed things up.

Doesn't the baobab fruit also have anti-nutrient components? Or is it certain baobab trees fruit? I have a lot to watch and hopefully read at my local library. All I know I want to try some Baobab fruit The Crazy Wife
