- Georgia's foreign agent law is based on the US' own Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA);
- Despite this, the US State Department opposes attempts by Georgia to protect itself from admitted US interference within its internal political affairs;
- The US has successfully coerced other nations into abandoning similar legislation;
- Georgia has already suffered immensely from US political capture;

Your ask if your video has been useful. Given the not only deuterating, but deceitful silent morphing of the population's foundation for survival, hence, your content. It's clearly beyond useful and I see it more in the category of necessity. They have conditioned the masses to except and normalise anything. You Brian" represent democracy. That someone can create and activate a course of action filled with devious intent leading to hundreds of thousands of innocent lives lost, and not go to jail, yet how many Americans sit in profit prisons for smoking a joint. They are confident enough to place everyone life on the line engaging block confrontation, even with a fail rate tethering behind them". Thank you Brian.

i live in georgia, saw the first attempt to push through this law last spring fail and the government here had to abort their plan. last week they brought the law back to parliament in a 2nd attempt. the issue here is that the people do not know that usa is interfering here (and that it funds most of the NGOs and opposition parties). There is some independent media as well as social media plays a big role in public opinions on things, and that social media and influence groups have narrated the law as 'russia law' as russia implemented it a couple years ago (and as this video shows similar was done in thailand). Georgia has friendly relations with USA, we have a street called George W Bush Avenue as a thanks for usa helping to resolve the 2008 war here, we have usa (and uk and eu) military here training the georgian army for many years now, so the georgian people see american people as friends and supporters of georgian sovereignty. But as this video shows all is not as friendly as it seems, and that the 'support' we get from usa comes with strings attached, and that includes 'meddling' in the direction of the country (the EU tries to do the same here). What i dont completely understand is why the georgian government does not expose at least some of the external funding of groups here which would show the georgian people the situation. My thoughts are that we are very vulnerable here, with russia occupying 20% of georgia as well (ukraine 20% occupied was not the first time russia did this...) we are a tiny country of just over 3 million and we are all seeing how 40million people in ukraine are struggling, we would be overrun before lunch, so the military support we have from usa, uk, eu etc is a benefit to us. So its not quite as straightforward as 'if these protests are in favour of welcoming foreign agents to their country'....

Why would regular everyday citizens of a country even care in the slightest about a law against foreign government agents? US Govt passed a bill that could end up banning tiktok for similar reasons, something that actually effects regular everyday citizens of America, and you don't see people protesting that as far as I can tell. When you realize you can't answer the question I presented with any certainty, then you know the protests are most likely ILLEGITIMATE. These protests in Georgia are the exact reason laws like that are needed in Georgia to begin with.

Hi, Brian. This is a very timely video on this subject as just yesterday Russian media reported that EU parliament has adopted a resolution (or some such) requesting EU commission to stop the process of Georgia's integration into EU. According to EU parliament, "this law goes against EU values & principles" 🙄🤯. Go figure, eh? In response to this, former Georgian PM & the current chairman of the ruling party "Georgian dream" said that if Georgia is accepted into EU, Georgian government will be willing to review or even abandon this law altogether. I wonder what his message meant: desperation for acceptance to EU or daring EU/the west, knowing (or having realized) that Georgia may never be accepted to EU after all, having witnessed what the west has (and is doing) done to Ukraine. Prior to adoption of this law, someone from the Georgian govt (the PM maybe) had actually said that this foreign agent law is Georgia's response to avoid ukrainization of the country & avoid the same fate that has befallen Ukraine. I hope that Georgia & their govt will survive this and come out stronger and more determined to maintain their sovereignty.

Thank you for a well informed factual programme, all these actions of these failed countries to maintain hegemonic power of yester years, are presently found wanting due to the lack thereof. The power that the West once had was because of the brilliant and powerful leadership, which does not exist today. How in hell can one expect to to be relevant when politicians are more concerned about their own pockets and hegemonic wars outside the US rather than its very own people, that is cowardly. Appreciate the commitment bringing us this programme.

Regarding the Guardian article that cites the EU court concluding that Georgia was in fact the aggressor, sadly this became the ONLY source for this as the search query has been.. cleaned up.. Before between 2009 - 2017 on search results would also appear the direct link to the EU Court gov site and their entire assessment, investigation, and how they concluded that Georgia was the initiator of the August 2008 conflict. I have since been on multiple EU gov sites trying to find that document that the Guardian is citing. Since it's a Document and thus a Primary Source, if anyone knows about the one I'm talking about, it'd be great if someone can point me to the right direction, as Primary Documents always hold more value in debates than a British written Article.

I remember the EU court ruling public site you're referring to. Unfortunately, Google has purged and censored a lot of its search results. I think the EU deleted their documents for the public to keep the new 2016 narrative going, I won't be surprised at all if that Guardian article gets deleted soon too, archive it while you can with way back

Hi Brian, I'm a big fan. I live in Belgrade and witnessed firsthand how the "Belgrade model" was implemented. Fortunately, Belgrade has since elected a center-right govt that protects national interests. I wish to comment on one point - the key difference in the US law, the Russian law, and proposed Georgian law, modeled after Russia's law. As you pointed out, the US law is focused on lobbyists. In the US, the so-called civil society sector, including religion, is given absolute freedom, which has resulted in key issues of national interest being captured and superseded by economic interests. You have noted how this works in the defense industry (profit driven vs purpose driven). Another example is gender politics. I grew up at a time when the consensus opinion was to support the LGBTQ movement. Following the success of the rainbow flag movement, civil society moved to the "trans" topic, where they was HUGE money to be made in transitioning people. Civil society in the USA has pushed through a radical "trans" ideology which parades as science, but which has nothing to do with science. Young children (single-digit age) who may be asking questions about gender are nowadays defined as "gender dysphoric" by the establishment, which then counsels confused parents to start their pre-pubescent kids on hormone therapy in preparation for gender re-assignment surgery. Parents are told that if they do not support transitioning their kids, they will run a high risk of suicide. Any parent would prefer to see their child alive as another gender than dead, so this is very manipulative and it works. This position does not, however, reflect scientific consensus. While not all 50 states support this path, a majority do. In recent days, the UK and Scandinavia, which had pursued the same policy, have reversed course, electing to support hormone therapy for kids in only rare cases. It is shocking that these developed countries had until recently been captured by such economic interests. Of course, people were intimidated. Nobody wants to be labelled anti-gay, as if not supporting gender reassignment in children is equivalent to being anti gay and lesbian. A key difference is that kids cannot make such choices before they experience sexuality. To pretend that a pre-pubescent person can make informed choice about gender is inherently outrageous, and yet this is happening in the USA, driven by "civil society". Giving biological male kids estrogen before puberty radically alters their development. In short, civil society in this case has co-opted both institutions of education and medicine, the later case driven by economic interests rather than science. Empircal evidence shows that over 30 percent of people who made such decisions as kids regret it later. The consequence of such decisions is often never experiencing climax. Turning to religion, the US allows what in more traditional societies are easily recognized as cults (Scientology, Mormons, etc...). Every society has a right to regulate its civil society sector, in light of current trends. Because the very term harkens back to the Enlightenment, when civil society was grounded in reason, the USA accuses any country that limits civil society as being "anti-democratic". The distinction is important because the US has weaponized civil society. I agree with your perspective, fully, but I think it's important to acknowledge how "civil society" has been co-opted by financial interests that prioritize earnings over ethics/humanity. Allowing civil society to operate without any restrictions has led to highly undesirable outcomes, as evidenced by recent policy changes in the UK and Scandinavia. Because the civil society=freedom argument has been used to such great effect, people must be aware and ready to confront it.

The UK doesn't need laws like this against NGOs. We have GOs doing the work for them. The nearest we have had was the change within the official opposition to thwart a possible Corbyn government and to maintain our current regime by other means. But MI6, CIA, etc could sit back and let the media (especially the Guardian) and the proxies of the state of Israel to do the heavy lifting. The Guardian of 2003 (which you cite) has become, to its shame, a very different animal. A rabid one.

Brian Berletic, one of the leading journalists of our times. Thoroughly researched, fact based geopolitical analyses, perceptive, prescient, ahead of the game. Alongside Max Blumenthal and Alexander Mercouris. The US neocon regime’s proxy conflict in Georgia is a revelation. What of the US neocon regime’s infiltration of Myanmar (Burma) on China’s western border? Attempts are being made to foster a pro US political party against pro China one’s who are persecuted as a « junta ».. China is developing with Myanmar key infrastructural access to the sea has been developed as part of the Road and Belt Scheme. By seeking to control/block China’s western border access to the sea, is the U.S. neocon regime seeking to prepare an attack on China’s eastern front through its sacred historic province, Taiwan - and the Philippines… Horrifying escalation risks. Heartfelt thanks. 🙏🏼🕯🕯🙏🏼 Paris
