The principal reason Toyota is struggling to meet orders demand is that the Toyota Auto Body plant in Yoshiwara in Arche Perfecture is that the 70 Series Landcruisers are still assembled and welded together by hand (circa 1970's style) and they are moved around the assembly plant towed by forklift to each station, although the Toyota Prado and 300 Series are assembled using the Kawasaki Robots in the other side of the Factory , it should also be noted that the largest order for the 70' Series Landcruiser's old and new is from Gibralter Stockholding Ltd in Gibralter who modify many of the Landcruisers using accessory parts from various Australian manufacturers for the United Nations and the Red Cross Worldwide, so the private customers and the mining companies are having to join the que

The V8 will remain the towpig-of-choice, when i towed 1600kg around the country in the 2.8 the drivetrain suffered too much. It was a very expensive halfway service. My new V8 doesnt even know the van is there. plus If you want to re-chip and re-tune the V8 to get more of this or that, you can do almost whatever you like without blowing it up. There'll be much less room to move with the 4banger

I was firmly of the view that the 2.8 4 cylinder wouldn't cut it. I don't own one but have had a run in one, as a long term Toyota owner I was prepared to be disappointed. But I was wrong - it goes really well, wasn't towing but it certainly got up when you put the boot into it. As a fam we've owned 14 Toyota's of all kinds from Corollas to Landcruisers. It's always about personal choice but I'm defo in the market once the heat comes out of the market.

V8 vs V4 If your towing 3 plus ton give me a V8. Seen plenty of 4 cylinders sitting on the side of the road waiting for help. Auto vs manual. Give me manual everyday. Best security for your car. Thieves don’t steel manuals. Most can’t drive them. American vs Toyota. For touring both are good untill either brake down. There’s people touring out there waiting 2, 3, 4 months and much longer for American parts. Toyota parts everywhere in Oz. I’ll take a Toyota. Good decision points boys. Just my thoughts.

@@absolute.freedom your right mate. Professional thief’s probably do know how to drive manuals. I guess, having traveled around Aus that the opportunistic thieves which we heard and come across saw a gear stick coming out of the floor and just move on the the next one so I’m sticking with my manual. You’re right though and so happy so have pointed out that I’m a dumb arse and can’t drive a manual. 😊

The American 1500, can’t tow and carry at same time as spec is crap. Try the GCM/gvm upgrades, minimum avail to suit car license. The LC200 has a better payload with GCM/ GVM upgrades. All proven and parts anywhere, all the upgrades you need at competitive prices. V8 in sand compared to 4cyl & American trucks. Take your HD maxx tracks. Also for the correct spec in American truck to need light truck license. At least with Landcruiser you can put it in woolies car park bay, try any 2500?

What’s so funny is rams don’t even sell atm in USA and they are begging for 70 series. If your only towing you don’t need a gvm on a ram at all. And it seams like your trying to cover your basis for Toyota stopping the v8. Because be realistic soon as the v8 is stop the whole jmax conversion spending $200k etc etc is going to be done with. And I am a customer literally picking up my 79 next week Ps I’m pretty sure norweld got a new 2024 v8 because it’s the new face lift and a manual box so I’m assuming it’s a v8 because 4 banger only come in auto. Food for thought

When I read the comments, I feel both sadness and embarrassment. In the past month, among the hundreds I’ve encountered, only two seemed genuinely professional, devoid of the prevalent marketing drivel. It baffles me when an engine, designed for entirely different applications, gets fitted into a vehicle engineered for rigorous off-roading and heavy towing. This vehicle is expected to perform these tasks reliably, without necessitating complex and costly repairs. Witnessing the public’s susceptibility to marketing falsehoods and misconceptions is disheartening. Many are oblivious to concepts like metal fatigue, the marketing-driven measurement of torque, the limitations of automatic transmissions in serious off-roading, among other things. I’m not suggesting everyone must grasp the theory of internal combustion engines, understand the basics of material strength, or be a skilled driver. My point is the alarming ease with which people, accustomed to convenience, are misled. They are sold subpar products at inflated prices and are convinced of their supposed superiority and knowledge. What truly concerns me is not just the decline in technical understanding or marketer’s deceptions, but the broader intellectual decay of society, hastened by rampant consumerism.

Happy to stick with my 2010 troopy, with a bunch of mods, sure its rough, was stupidly expensive to build, and stuck with the manual upgrade to 360 degree, cluctch and billet flywheel. Happy with the stinky pre dpf and straight pipe rolling coal on hard acceleration, and yeah i have a new crate motor, pump and injectors as spares incase i ever need them. It's the last of the breed and will out last me for sure, and its just an fing manly thing to drive, anywhere. Sure i have a sub 5 sec sporty sitting in the garage for those business trips and jeep grand as the daily for the misso but the troopy is my passion project. One lap, two each to the Gulf, the Kimberly and the west and a lot more to come, maybe stick it in a shipping container and do Africa, onece the boy is capable of running the business. 4 cylinder cruisers, not for me, ill leave those for the chicks.
