It puts Willie in perspective. He's a master of being in the right place to distribute the ball. He also arranges the back line where needed. He's passes here are very good and not what people say it is. Both wingers would not have scored if it wasn't for him. A couple of times he could have scored himself but he passed the ball on.

His skills and his reading of the game are amazing.

It's beyond me how he gets so much hate. The "fans" don't seem to understand that the few handling errors he makes are due to the fact that he gets so much possession on attack. Most of the Boks' attacking play goes through him. The more ball you get, the more errors you will make. Simple math. He's a brilliant player. Best Fullback we've had since Monty.

Willie has always been a great playmaker.. In his early days for cheetahs he created and scored so many tries.. I remember one year when Meyer was coach every try the boks scored came through him.. He is prone to mistakes tho. But has the ability to create. Always been one of my favorite players.

Just a note, the footage from 2:33 until 3:39 was the warmup game before the World Cup vs Japan and not the quarterfinal vs Japan. Then a lot of the subsequent footage is also not from the World Cup, causing this video's summary/description to not make much sense.

How did you get this wide angle footage? Itt so good to be able to see what the players away from the ball are doing.

Unfortunately anybody who has not played rugby or does not understand the sixth sense some very select players have, will not understand what this vid means. Yes, he makes mistakes and to be honest is probably not the best wet weather player, but those moments of brilliance are what makes him special. He is unpredictable and that makes him dangerous to opposing teams.

His only weakness is high balls only he is not bad as people say

Thing about Willie as shown here is that he is brilliant at reading the play and is vital for essentially all attacking moves boks do. Problem is that you don't show is all the times Willie messes up similar attacking opportunities this year. Like his forward passes at the end of brilliantly worked moves or his knock ons. For example the AB's v SA game. Willie was way off form and actually cost the boks a try with a terrible pass to Kolbe. He has also been really poor under high ball recently. This is why he is getting criticism. Don't get me wrong I still think he is a good player it's just that in 2019 he is only that good player for like 15 mins of a game.

Willie is not a bad player, BUT he needs to work on the quality of his passing...it is poor for the level he is playing at. If his passing was better the Boks would have scored more tries and the wings would have "less work" to do too score them.

Put that white circle around some of the other players and you can say the same as for willie, everyone is doing their part, the problem with willie is he makes way more mistakes than he does any good, and he is keeping better players out of the team, Galant, Willemse or even Kolbe will be a much better option than him, he had his time and he was a special player once, but not anymore, everyone sees it, analysts are mentioning his descent but he stays there after keeping on making costly mistakes.
