Elena real soulmate was Tom. Both doppelgängers and both was in the medical field. To bad we never saw them cross paths bc of Stefan and Damon entering Elena life.

None of seem to realize that the show still has yet to touch upon a doppelgänger. The first doppelgänger is not Amara, she's the originator of the line. If Silas, Amara, and Ketsia are all 2,000yrs old, and the original vampires are 1,000yrs old, what about the one that came between them? Think about it, the legend says a new doppelgänger is born every 500yrs. 1,000yrs separates Amara and Tatia. None of you in the comments have caught on to that.

I looked through a bunch of comments and I didn't see anyone mention this, so I guess I'll be the party pooper. Katherine doesn't say "I had a baby at a Winloc." She says: "I had a baby out of wedlock" meaning that she had a baby outside of the bonds of marriage. Other than that tiny detail, this was FANTASTIC!

*legend say doppelgängers was 500 years apart from each other so I think doppelgangers should’ve been like this but it was a little messy:* 2000 years ago: Amara & Silas (both died so no more doppelgängers probably) 1500 years ago: Amara doppelganger 1 & Silas doppelgänger 1 (probably died human never mattered and had normal lives) 1000 years ago: Tatia (died human but had child-her blood created originals) & Maybe Silas doppelgänger (died human though) 500 years ago: Katherine & Maybe Silas doppelgänger but never saw him so maybe he died human or something 160 years ago somehow: Stefan (I think he should’ve been alive 500 years ago like Katherine it would’ve made more sense) Current: Elena (lived a happy life with Damon and maybe had child named Stefanie) & Tom (Enzo killed him violently) No more doppelgängers probably since the originators died and that’s the only reason that more were created. Ps: It was weird how the writers made a Silas doppelgänger not in the 500 year gap it was kinda weird and very sloppy I mean the show has lots of holes but it’s very good and amusing (Lol I’m writing this like it’s for Julie plec)

But even if Amara and Silas had kids centuries ago tho, the family tree would have expanded so much by present day thousands could have Silas and Amaras blood. I have a question. Elena was doppelganger because she was related to Katherine by blood. Basically, Katherine was Elena's ancestor. Amara's Doppelganger bloodline continued because Katherine had a child. Here's my question, how was Tom Avery doppelganger? Stefan never had child, Julian killed Stefan's and Valerie's child before she/he was even born. If Stefan never had a child that means that Silas' bloodline never continued. So how is it possible that Tom is doppelganger?

Tatia isn't the first doppelganger because there must have been some a few hundreds of years before she was born but that would mean that Stefan wasn't Katherine because she's a few hundred years older than Stefan while Tom is Elena's doppelganger but Silas and Amara are not doppelgangers they're the first of their bloodlines

Guys I’m just starting with TVD show and I’m still confused about this whole doppelgänger thing, anyone mind to explain in details what the doppelgängers are?

I don’t watch the legacy but it would be awesome if the ending went into the future some how and it showed the next doppelgänger 💗💗💗 ??? If there was another doppelgänger what would the name be? Edit: wait hold up Amara ended up dead so doesn’t that mean that Elena was the last doppelgänger because the only reason there were doppelgängers in the first place was because Amara could never die.....

If you think about it, there is a couple plot holes and things that don’t make sense about the doppelgänger story line. Firstly, we were led to believe that after Amara and Silus became immortal, every 500 years a Doppelgänger would be born to create a balance within nature. Amara and Silus were born and became immortal around 2000 years before Elena was born. Then 1000 years before Elena was born Tatia was born. Then 500 years before Elena was born Katherine was born. This leaves , Tatia, Katherine and Elena all being born 500 years apart. This also means that there would of had to have been a doppelgänger that we never met, be born between Amara and Tatia (1500 years before Elena was born) this would make sense since a doppelgänger appears every 500 years. However, in season 3 of TVD the originals talk about Tatia being the very first doppelgänger, meaning the very first double to Amara. Which makes no sense considering there should have been a doppelgänger before Tatia, if we are following the idea that doppelgängers are born every 500 years. Secondly, Stefan and Tom are only around 200 years apart. This also contradicts the whole idea of doppelgängers being born 500 years apart. I’m addition, since Amara and Silus took the cure at the same time, their doppelgängers should be born around similar times as well, but Katherine was around 300 years older than Stefan. We also don’t know the male doppelgänger that was alive when Tatia was around. So, the question is, do doppelgängers just randomly appear at anytime and was Tatia, Katherine and Elena being all born around 500 years apart a coincidence or did the writers mess up with the story line. My personal theory or I guess solution to this, is that doppelgängers actually appear every 100 years, rather than every 500 and that we just haven’t seen all the doppelgängers. This would make a lot more sense why Katherine and Stefan are 300 years apart. Furthermore, Qetsiyah tells us that she had witnessed many Doppelgängers pair up over the years. Yet we only see Katherine, Stefan and Elena interact with eachother. So there would of had to be a lot more to support what Qetsiyah was saying.

The originators: Silas-Amara , 1stDoppelgangers: Stefan-Tatia, 2ndDoppelgangers: Tom-Katherine then only 3rd female doppelganger Elena left because there's no 3rd male doppelganger. . . But According toTVD, Silas-Amara died together then Stefan-Katherine died together in hell fire . So, Elena had to die with Tom.
