It will be exciting, unsettling, powerful, illuminating and we shall all be changed. DV.

@@thecatholicman For sure, I just meant to bring to light a silent majority of the Vetus Ordo: FSSP, IBP, ICKSP, and many others including the local parish TLMs. SSPX always seems to take the oxygen out of the room so to speak when it comes to these things - often to the detriment of folks just going about their business.

Without SSPX there would be no IBP and FSSP and the Insitute would not have joined together without Ecclesia Dei. Let's be real: The SSPX has many valid points and has to be adressed and cannot be treated like pariah. FSSP people in part do not even share the traditionalist positions on Ecumenism, the Universality of the Church etc. We need to be integral catholics and not just like the mass better for asthetical reasons...

@@thomasmooney5653 the Vetus Ordo’s main attraction, and what I think brings so many young people and families to it is a sense of the numinous, the transcendent, the reverence for Our Lord in the sacrament, the beauty of liturgy which many (not all) masses seem to have lost (I’ll let you decide if this is by design or accident). Consider the young people on the Chartres and Covadongo pilgrimages and their VO being banned - in countries where leftist govts are hostile to faith and even try to ban public rosaries - there’s clearly a movement of the Holy Spirit, if you like, rewarding and enriching the faith of these young people.

This is something I hear repeated so often, and truly it's a myth. Even back in the 1950s and earlier, bilingual hand missals were used for those who wanted to follow along during mass. I know a minimum of Latin (we're talking phrases here), and have no issue following a VO. There are missals provided which include most of the Mass except for the propers, which are often provided elsewhere. You can purchase a missal having all of the information in a Latin/vernacular format for several years into the future. Readings are repeated in the vernacular before the homily. It's a weak objection that assumes total lack of ability of the average person to read or observe gestures. Plus, if you go often enough, you begin to understand Latin as present in the Mass due to the responses. VO adherents do not go to that Mass because they love Latin. They go because of what the Latin means in the context of the Mass. It means a fixed meaning of a liturgy that doesn't change depending on who is saying Mass and how they feel that day. There aren't infinite options ranging from reverent to the bare minimum. The VO structure is different from the Novus Ordo in structure and therefore, in what it professes. For VO adherents, the Mass presents the faith fully and richly. That is the attraction.
