Well let's see. Because of Sir Pentious' 'snowball effect' across the hotel, Alastor gets his deal with Charlie, the residents start to become friends, the Egg Bois figure out the Exorcists' weakness, Vaggie trains with Carmilla and regains her wings, Charlie taps into her demon form properly in the big battle, the Hotel checks out its first redeemed sinner, etc. Yeah, not a terrific result. If they hadn't sent Pentious and just bided their time, there's a large possibility the Hotel would have been a smoking crater in the ground by the next Exorcism.

This is surely due to the fact that Valentino possesses Angel's soul, and that he knows that Angel (for the moment) would never dare to discuss an order from Val. After that it probably wouldn't have worked given that his contract stipulates that he must do everything he is told ONLY when he is in the studio.
