The Vegan Ironman Diet of Cro-Mags’ John Joseph

John Joseph is a well-known figure in both the hardcore punk and vegan communities. As lead singer of legendary New York hardcore band Cro-Mags, he's used his status and platform to spread the word about the benefits of plant-based diets and PMA (positive mental attitude).
What not a lot of people know about John is that on top of being an active touring musician and author, he also competes in Ironman triathlons. These brutal tests of endurance consist of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile run. To say a lot of training and diet go into competing and finishing an Ironman would be an understatement.
We follow John as he prepares for an event in Boulder, CO to see what fuels a plant-based endurance athlete under such intense training.

As a vegan myself, this is the attitude that will inspire non vegans to give veganism a chance. I have met and seen many confrontational and judgemental vegans and they just do more harm than good. And I can't stand the ones who mix veganism with other issues. Go John. I keep coming back to this video.

Lol good question. Not the typical lean look of a triathlete, but even ironman training, you can’t out train a diet too high in fat and calories. Big mistake was all that coconut oil. Yikes. Also he’s had a long tough life of foster homes, drugs, prison, rock and roll etc and it takes a toll on a person ya know? Plus all the training for ironman, some will say it’s detrimental rather than healthy. Yet he has high energy and great attitude and still parties at times like a 20 year old lol I think he’s doing miiiiiles better than the majority of sick, obese, sedentary, dependent on welfare Americans
