I completed the modification yesterday. There were only 2 technique hole stone with an length of 12 instead of 14 wich i had to compensate. The construction instructions were very detailed and the stability is still exzellent. The functional hanger is a real eye-catcher and upgrades the ucs Venator to a high end level. In addition, the venator was provided with an accompanying ship, as well as star Fighters, hull- plates , turning turnest and more stable Bridge s .

My parts for this mod should be arriving any day now. I'm going to install it as well as light it up with the rest of the set. I think the hanger bay will look so spectacular with the individual hangers lit up. I will be making a video to showcase it once it is built as well, so subscribe if you want to see it when its ready. I'll eventually also have a full escort fleet (Republic light cruiser and frigate) and 2x scaled fighters as well coming out of the hanger too. I got Arc-170s, Y-wings, Jedi starfighters, and slightly larger (and detailed) gunships. Sure the fighters will be a little out of scale, but they are close enough to still look appropriate.

It probably is even stronger than before the modifications. The way LEGO designed the Venator never was structually sound to begin with and one reason why I stayed away from it for now. With the other, a Venator is not a Venator without a spinal hangar bay, being rectified by you I might think of treating myself with this for my birthday.

For everyone asking, yes this is compatible with the light my bricks kit! Just be very careful to not disconnect any of the wires and just leave the wired panels dangling. It’s a bit tricky, but there is more than enough space to hide and conceal the wires while still building the hangar bay!

@@ForgedinLego Some things i pointed out : page-20 there are some parts in the upper left corner who seem to be glitched out or low Resolution (idk if this is just in my pdf file) Page-149 i may be stupid but im not entire sure what the purpose of this red connector was i mean wouldnt a blue one be a little bit better? Page-183 some inverted brackets had to be placed on tiles wich confused me but i thought it will make sense later wich it did because there was a long technic piece placed on top of them (happens at page-195) Also in your parts list there are 2x (Red Pinhole 2x2 plates) [number 10247] I couldnt find a step for them, They where not present in the instructions so far i can tell (Or im just blind idk) One thing that didnt work for me was this on page-329 to page-330, when connecting this panel when finished on the venator this pieces always just falls off. I tried many times but i couldnt get it right so i ignored this Besides these things everything is awesome 👍🏻
@ForgedinLego5 ай бұрын
@@XarJobePage 20 and the extra parts have been fixed, those are on me. Page 329, that needs to be "massaged" onto place, it will attach just under gravity one its in the right place. I wish I could find a pictoral way of explaining it, a lot of international people buy my instructions and I don't like to use only text. The connector in red is kind of just a leftover from the original set, it doesn't do too much either way. Thank you so much for taking the time, I really want to continuously improve everything I do for this channel!

The gap between the front and the back panels on the ship doubled when you picked it up lol. I think I would still pick it up in the middle.
@ForgedinLego6 ай бұрын
It did! This is because the 1x2 plates with ball joint are only connected on one stud, so they can rotate a little and widen / close the gap. I picked it up the wrong way before even starting to film, trust me it is reversible and does not damage the parts :) I still highly recommend doing it the right way though

@Shorjok6 ай бұрын
That's a very clean design! I'm wondering if there's room in the rest of the ship to have those pivot points connected to axles that go all the way back so it could be remotely operated or even motorised?
@ForgedinLego6 ай бұрын
There is definitely enough room! The real problems though are that the doors get caught on the studs of the hull if you don't lift them over and where to put the remote actuator. You would have to make a few small exterior changes, but this mod I wanted to be identical from the outside
@Shorjok6 ай бұрын
@@ForgedinLego AHH I see. Maybe if there was a parallel joint the doors could have a smoother arc. As for the remote operation, there's probably a way one could route the mechanism so it would work by rotating one of the thrusters at the back

hey i have a question: I have a stand that puts the Venator at a 45 degree angle, would that result in the hangar doors flopping down immediately or does that need a bit more force than just gravity?
@ForgedinLego6 ай бұрын
Closed it'll work just fine, but open you will notice one door sits higher than the other, make sure the door on the side away from you is the higher one and it'll work to near vertical!
@Marineford20005 ай бұрын

And now why isn't it like that to begin with
@Darkwater20135 ай бұрын
For what it costs, it should have come like this out of the box. It is a sad that they can't even get that feature in the official set. The designers aren't at fault here, they can do such things, the Dune set shows as much, but the higher-ups probably set a too restrictive parts budget.

Thanks to you I'll actually buy a Lego Venator. You fixed the only issue i had. What's the point of having a Venator without it's hanger.
@ForgedinLego6 ай бұрын
I feel the same way, the only reason I bought the Venator was to make the hangar mod!
@currytigre6 ай бұрын
That's awesome. Any particular reason the hanger bay narrows instead of being the same width the whole length? Is stuff in the way or a design choice? If it was the same width the whole length then you could add the red line that travels the length of the bay on the left and right sides. A suggestion for an additional mod that would be cool is the internal engines in the rear. If you google a cut away diagam of the Venator internals you'll see what I mean.
@ForgedinLego6 ай бұрын
I used the Incredible Cross Sections as a guide, that does get thinner towards the front and wider in the back. I thought that was how it was in the Clone Wars, but I might be wrong
@butterpiggie96246 ай бұрын
The hangers doors do in fact taper, it can be seen in this video by The Templin Institute around 6:03. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qZuoac2X3a6vYJs.htmlfeature=shared&t=362 It's just not as intense in canon as this mod is, but to make it all work seamlessly is astounding.
@currytigre6 ай бұрын
@@butterpiggie9624 If you watch the last episode of Clone Wars it doesn't look like it tapers. To me at least. It's a good episode overall to get a lot of details and angles of the hangar bay like the markings on the ground, and how the last third of bays towards the nose are about half as tall. I know there's a cross section of the Venator where it does look like it tapers which seems to be based on the Episode III movie version. So I guess depending on which version you're going for either could be correct.
