Hallo ich lerne Deutsch I want to ask you a question about the verb ,,sein'' in German. I usually saw sentences, for example ,Ich bin Historikerin.,Ich bin Single ,Sie ist Amerikanerin etc. And there is not any article before that nouns .Why don't they have article before them? I would be grateful if you could help me understand. Servus!

Hey @Babbel! I am from Germany and the sentence "Ich denke, also bin ich" doesn't make any sense. If you want to say "I think I am" you have to say "Ich denke ich bin". LG Cronkhinator

Es handelt sich hier um einen klassischen philosophischen Grundsatz von Descartes: "Cogito ergo sum." (Übersetzt: "Ich denke, also bin ich."). Es geht u.a. um die Erkenntnisfähigkeit der Menschen als unumstößliches Fundament des menschlichen Seins. Liebe Grüße 🤓

ich denke is I think. The German word also I don’t know but seems like the English word also. Ich bin is I am. Ich denke also ich bin = I think also I am?

Dosłownie samo zdjęcie przykuło moją uwagę, natomiast po obejrzeniu i przesłuchaniu jednocześnie jednej z 60-cio sekundowych lekcji, aparycja tej kobiety sprawiła, że mógłym się zakochać w pół sekundy przy pierwszym spojrzeniu. Doszczętnie. Dlaczego? :)

I was a member of Babbel for 2 years. When I stopped I was left with no access to the materials I had used up to then. I don't like that model. I have nothing permanent to work with. The business model is too one sided. If I buy a German language CD MP3 or book, its mine for life. Babbel want to keep you locked in and if you leave, no matter how much money you have given them, you have nothing to show for it.

Hey Charles, thanks for your message. When you cancel your Babbel subscription you still have access to the Review Manager, so you can still practice all the words you've learned.

I. It'll've been my fourth language, though I've been putting it off to practise my Italian and Portuguese more, which are basically a crime to not learn at the same time. Deutsch is something of a new ballpark for me...
