I'm too old now for a bike, even a three wheeler, but I would go for the Kymco. I am not too interested in speed. At my ageing body comfort is the most important

If something is classed a trike, does it have any effect on congestion charges and parking fees? My 125 scooter is free on both of them. But I needed a CBT and couldn’t just ride a more powerful machine on a car license.

I also thought the Kymco CV3 ticks all the boxes. Great engine, great touring capacities, natural stearing feel, it looks good. But there are minuses. No traction control. No real roll lock system. Very limited storage space. Less natural riding position then e.g. a Piaggio. Not as easy to maneuver trough the city then an similar weight Piaggio. No real step through. For my use, i think my Peugeot Metropolis still has an advantage over the Kymco.

@@fabiocali6435got MP3, was conaidering Metropolis, seems georgeous, but if i cant have it with my car driving license, cant do it. Such.a pitty. Im also big Peugeor cars fan recently they are doing great design.

The Can Am Ryker and it's bigger brother the Spyder are classed as motorcycles in Australia and require the rider to hold a motorcycle licence and have completed a pre-riding training course. Only the Ryker 600 is learner approved meaning a rider must be on a full licence before thinking of riding either the Ryker 900 or any Spyder. To my knowledge some three wheeler - those that have the 2 wheels at the back (Boom Trike - made in Germany) may be ridden in some states on a car licence.

The Peugeot's ok ,but I would have a problem with the ghost lion. The Piaggio is so advanced - a rear view camera! Fantastic! - all it needs now is an ash tray and it will have achieved motorcycling perfection!

Very interesting. Pity many of these aren't imported to Australia. I was fortunate to own and ride an early Gilera 500 three wheeler in 2010 when it was imported. Was a difficult bike to sell pre=owned even thopugh in great condition when I sold it. For that reason alone, I will never own a three wheeler again.

The Kymco priced right could take the UK market by storm. I know a Kymco mechanic and he says they are almost like "lexus" in terms of reliability

I spoke with a Kymco dealer in Scotland, who said that it’s unlikely we will get this new trike for sale in the UK. I just don’t understand why such machines aren’t as popular here than on the continent.

I think for looks and storage space and a decent (er) price, the Trinity 300 is the best of the bunch. The ryker are not really in on the same category. The Cv3 is nice too but 12k ffs.

After 50+ yrs riding motorcycles i have realised motorcyclists don't like anything different i love them but age and back problems have put me on a tricity 300 love it nobody else does

@@garywoods765 I like the Tricity would not own one since i dislike scooters as a whole. The Tricity been the only one i kind of like but i just love my bikes so i can not see my self going to a scooter.

What did I see at the end by the Kymko model?? Does it have a chain drive to the rear wheel?? I did check it again and I almost sure that's what I see. That would be a defenite NO GO for me. I'll go for another test ride on a different piaggio model soon, how ever I also am curious at the Yamaha

I understand they withdrew the Yamaha Tricity 300 for sale in the UK last summer, due to safety concerns about the upright locking system. Does anyone know whether they have resolved this issue and if it’s back at dealerships and offered with a full warranty etc.?

Problem if there was one has been resolved i never had any problems with the stand assist and most people in the clubs say the same great machine i came to it after 50+ yrs riding motorcycles from 90cc to 1400cc great for touring urban filters through traffic easily same width as a vespa gts300 mirror to mirror but looks wider 90+ mpg was going for mp3 till i spoke to piaggio technician he said they have a lot of issues

@@itzajdmting yes, I bought one, but sadly I sold it back not long afterwards, as I found it just too heavy and unwieldy. It’s a real beast to slow manoeuvre and I actually dropped it, although it is pretty stable and efficient once out on the open road. I’m 6’5” and no weakling, but manually moving it about and turning it up my narrow path almost gave me a hernia, so it was not the machine for my particular circumstances. Not that I wouldn’t recommend it for others if they are are strong and fit and can ride in and out of a garage on the level.

@@stonemarten1400 Thanks for the feedback, and fair play to you for trying it out. These things don't always work out. Yes I'm 6'1 but understand the hassle of manual manoeuvring as I've had multiple chronic injuries over the years. I'm actually thinking of getting a 125 because they're just so light and can still keep up with traffic (slow traffic lol), and just give me a taste of riding after having been away from it for a couple of decades. Did you end up replacing the 300 with something else? I know the regs are hard on manufacturers, but I seriously think they need to start prioritising weight, I think they would definitely shift more units. Everyone loves finding a bike to be lighter than expected.

Jammer dat Piaggio zich alleen concentreert op rijders tot 180 cm, ben je zoals ik langer dan lijkt het alsof je op een toilet zit met de lage zithouding met rugklachten als gevolg, nu heb ik dan mijn zadel zelf laten verhogen met 8 cm, maar het zou een mooie optie zijn als Piaggio met een keuze zou komen voor een hogere zit, verder is zoals met alle modellen dit al was de vering erg stug

I want Yamaha to make a larger capacity Tricity, say 500 or 600cc. If some scooters 3-wheelers have lock-in-an-upright position technology, why can't the Niken? The Kymco CV3 sounds promising.

Patent difficulties - Piaggio has patents on upright locking .The took Yamaha to court on the leaning the wheeler functionality too.

Can am Ryker is like a 3 wheeled car that you steer with handlebars, no? It doesn't lean and can't split lanes with it(It appears too wide). I feel like the best things about riding a motorcycle are missing. Reply

@@larryhouse3776 The Niken finds it and ignores it. I test rode one for more than 100 km and deliberately sought the worst road surfaces and it was fantastic ,especially the front end's compliance.

Pity that the only one they make that isn't a step through scooter, the Niken, you can't ride on a car licence. Can they just make a normal motorbike with the front wheels wide enough to meet the requirements....

Nice. I think tbe yamaha tricity 300 looks to be the best package of the 3 wheelers in terms of looks and and price. For me. Seems to be a good piece of kit. I'm seriously considering getting one.

Rode the kymco. Its fast as fork but i found it not to comfy in my op. Shite storage under seat. Bought a tricity 300 and had it a year now. Comfy nippy and leans well and has room for 2 lids and some pic nic food under the seat. Its also better looking than the kymco and is 4 k cheaper..

@@adeelmohammed6921 no idea. Never rode one. I preffer the tricity for looks out of all the 3 wheelers. Not sure of mpg . I do know it will do 160 plus miles to 12 notes of petrol if driven slow but i average less than that cos i drive it quite fast.

Just to say one day in my car i seen one of thease and the rider was going around a bend and i saw the bike fall over onto the rider also thd rider was only looked like 10 mph

Well you can drop the scooters if the wheel lock isn't engaged. It's cuz they lean just like a regular motorcycle. The only exception in this video would be the Can Am Ryker. That is more like a car, if you ask me. The Yamaha Niken doesn't even have that locking mechanism. That one you do have to treat like a regular motorcycle.

Euro5 vehicles have a big loss of power while the scooter itself is more expensive so it's not a feature but a requirement for the EU market that is useless in other continents. And I don't know how is a three wheeler riding style but it's again loss of power when compared to a two wheeler, more expensive to buy and more expensive services.

These types of scooters can not be safely used on British roads due to the number of road furniture put in to control speeding car/van drivers.

These vehicles are supposed to be mostly easy to use. Well, the NIKEN I drove in the summer of 2018 during its pan-European launch was the most uncomfortable vehicle I've ever driven in my life. Since then I've been looking at the few that are out there (because, justifiably, they don't sell) and I shudder to remember how unreasonably high the saddle and its center of gravity are. Brrr... nightmare!
