They are not forced to perform for food or anything else. They actually live a rich life, every bit as their wild counterparts-except they have round the clock veterinarian care and will never face the prospect of starvation or other hazards that come from living in a treacherous natural environment. Radical animal rights activists have successfully convinced the public with demagoguery. The result is people like you repeating what you’ve heard over and over. _You don’t know what you are talking about._

@@oliverallen3713 Its way more than 1%, plenty of merch i bought at SeaWorld had amounts of the total go to the SeaWorld & Bush Gardens Conservation Fund. Maybe you should look that up and the fact that they have given several grants to several causes since it was founded. Also the pools aren't barren, the UWV pool has rock formations & fish for the Orcas, a pool or 2 are setup with water hoses & sprinklers to give the Orcas water pressure massages + other enrichment items and setups. Also the pools aren't small, the smallest is the medical pool and even that one isn't tiny having seen it in person and up close. Edutainment is very important and there is nothing shallow about it. Orca Encounter which is the current show teaches a lot about Orcas, One Ocean, Killer Whales Up Close, Believe, The Shamu Story, Shamu Adventure and other previous shows were also educational or had dedicated educational segments. this is torture of theses animals who live literally to please people like the commentors below and the person who filmed this. Think about what the animals are going through. They are not in an ocean.They live in concrete pools that are bare and they suffer all kinds of illness, and die 30 years before a natural whale would.Its unconscionable.Can't you get entertainment that doesn't involve suffering? Large ones like aound an island(s) .And rehabilitation to hunt stocked live fish.You are sadly mistaken if you think breeding whales in captivity is a "maybe not" instead of WHAT THE ??? The DNA of these animals is already harvested if you are wondering about ocean wellness. Maybe you should get involved with ocean wellness instead of "Oh well -cruelty is better than nothing,:" The stock pool of theses animals os inbred by the way.They are becoming psychotic and --unstable.As-- for trainers?? they love being trainers around whales.They do not loe the whales or they would not be --trainers.No-- trainers.- no whale shows. They may die in the wild which I agree with as seen in the case study of Keiko. However with the captive population that are left a better solution must be found. These circus shows which are dressed up as education are total nonsense and simply revenue generators for seaworld and other sea life amusement parks. The makeshift swimming pools are only a fraction of what they should be in regarding size and lack any resemblance of the natural world. This is one of the worst displays of animal cruelty in modern day with lessons never been learned from all the orca’s that have become aggressive (Kasathka & Tilikum & Keto) and died in some instances too young. This annoys and angers me that this is allowed to go on and shows no signs of any change.

Sea world started taking orcas in the early 60's. They kept on dying and wouldn't stay alive for very long. Seaworld's hunter who captured these orcas use to use under water bombs and shoot the orcas with rifles. One capture alone killed 3 adults and 4 young orcas. And what did Sea world do they slit open the 4 young orcas stomachs and placed heavy rocks inside them, hoping the orcas would stay on the bottom of the sea. @@trua7129 The movie Orca wasn't another Jaws. Obviously you didn't see the great movie. The moral of the story was "leave orcas alone" This fishing boat is looking for sharks, but can't find any. So the captain with his spear gun that shoots a hundred feet, decides to take aim at a pod of orcas. Bo Derek was 19 years old in the movie and she's telling the captain don't do it, he ignores her, shoots, he hits the female orca, she's screaming and bleeding, so the female orca tries to kill herself by being chopped in the rotor blades. They realize, turn the boat off. They get a rope and tie it to her tail and bring her on board, hanging upside down, she's barely alive, and all of a sudden a baby pops out of her dead. The male orca is watching all of this happen. He sees the baby fall out, he sees his women dead, bloody hanging upside down. They cut her free and orca jumps up and kills the one dude cutting her free. The whole movie was orca having revenge on everybody that was on that boat. Nobody else. Great movie, watch it, blows all of jaws put together. Orca came out in 1978, Jaws came out in 1979

Not an awesome show these orcas are actually experiencing extreme mental and physical trauma and you can easily tell this by the one orcas fin at 12:37 , an orcas fin should be pointed straight up not drooped down to the side. @@MilesFirth Blackfish is %100 false! Even the people who made it have come forward to say that it isn't true. BTW: The dorsal fin you are referring to, it is common to males. Its called gravity! All it is is cartilage and on a male it can reach six feet, so, at a certain point gravity takes over and it begins to flop over. It is perfectly normal. Yes, it does happen in the wild too! Perhaps it is you who needs to educate yourself. I have been going to Sea World for over 40 years and I have never seen those animals mistreated in any way!

Okay so these whales are protected, fed, have a family pod, receive medical care and are constantly stimulated with training and shows. I could understand people’s protests about “captivity” if they were just swimming in an aquarium, bored to tears, but they are NOT. Why do we assume they are unhappy? They can’t speak. Yes, they have attacked people at times because they are ANIMALS. Dogs attack people too…should we stop keeping dogs in “captivity”? They certainly seem to have a good life to me.
@adamtaylor6603
@adamtaylor6603 3 күн бұрын
How much have you researched this topic ? I only ask this as to compare an orca and a dog is not a fair comparison. The dog has bread over decades to domesticate it. If a dog breed is deemed dangerous then it is banned as we see in the XL bully type too. Orca’s are very intelligent animals so to isolate one into a swimming pool when it’s intended for an ocean is just cruel. They are stimulated by trainers and I don’t dispute the trainers don’t harm and do feed and take care of them but captivity for these animals is not right and is animal abuse in its hidden form. If we did this to an innocent human it would be seen as forced captivity even if we got fed and exercised …..

In recent years there has been information on how many different killer whales and how they differ from one another.. Little was known about these mammals back in the day! I have watched black fish and knew a few trainers who worked at sea world before the making of black fish. I don't believe in every thing that was said on black fish.. Yes it's sad what happened.. Perhaps with more natural play sessions, eg each show the orcas get different toys to play with! Im saying provide them with external stimulation, and use the shows as an excuse to do this! Some of the most interesting videos ive seen are the “training” sessions where the orcas are just doing their thing and no required to perform. Sometimes having toys or just relaxing with the humans. Why not include some of this time during shows? Its not some stressful unnatural trick theyve done too many times to count. Its still entertaining and its providing stimulation and a chance for the public to see something thats not fake, like the shows are currently.

@beautifulgudrun8802

That's not why their fins bend my dude. It's caused by gravity. The whales here live in small, shallow pools, where everything interesting (trainers, food, toys) is on the surface, so that's where they spend the most time. In the wild, whales spend most of their lives underwater, with currents to keep their massive dorsal fins up. We used to think being sick caused the fin to bend, as it was usually only observed in sick or injured wild whales. However, we now know sick whales are more likely to spend extended time at the surface, and so lead to their fin going floppy. There's currently no evidence diet plays any part in their fin collapsing.

joice can am rider kzfaq.info/love/xMV2itjKz7o11Ik5nl0Zxw I’ll share this link with you in hopes that you watch it and do some research yourself. It’s very easy to assume an animal is unhappy but people should do more research on it before making a claim. I like to keep an opened mind after watching the daily enrichment and engagement the trainers have with the whales.

@@andreapurser9250 Oh and this is supposed to make everything better. These are massive ocean animals that belong in their own environment, in the oceans and not on land in some swimming pools. It would be like taking large elephants and sticking them out in the ocean on a 30 x 30 island. How cruel. Do you know that orcas travel a hundred miles a day. They are always moving and in swimming pools they can't.go anywhere. These orcas have become so bored that they took up bird hunting. They sacrifice their own fishes to hunt birds with the fish. And that they don't even eat, they just kill these birds for their own enjoyment because of boredom. What humans did to these orcas is unexusable and appalling.

These are still the same tricks LOL just with a video of ocean in the background and some propaganda about animal care/biology. Behavior training is behavior training. (I am a behavior therapist) They are still starved, still live in a bathtub, still don’t live with their families, and have half the lifespan,still get ripped from their families as babies. Still swim in water too warm and chemicals. Still have to swim in circles not in a straight line like they would in the wild, in the wild they swim 100 miles a day. And still have to perform in multiple shows a day. There is nothing about this that is similar to the wild! How dumb does SW think we are? I am glad SW is phasing the animals in the US out (no more breeding) but now China is exploding with orca shows , wayyy worse than in the US and they are buying from Russia who is capturing them.

Disgusting that these poor highly intelligent social animals are STILL imprisoned and tortured just so a selfish, shallow, ignorant public can be entertained! With everything we know about how captivity negatively impacts on their well being this is inexcusable!! Those who buy a ticket to one of these abusement parks are responsible for ensuring the misery continues

How to make a Seaworld hate comment -Call them greedy -Mention blackfish -Say they live in a bathtub -Disregard all true facts and say something that happened years ago -give them a ton of random info to sound smart -say that bent fins equal bad health -say they can only be fed if they do tricks There you go! ShadowLightMew EndlessOceanMew Yeah. It’s interesting for me because I support SeaWorld. They made a mistake and they fixed that mistake. Now everything else just happens in time. The anti caps trying to rush everything is so freaking annoying. And put what they’re saying this way. You put a whale who’s been basically living in royalty into a the ocean where they don’t get anything done for them and they don’t know where to go. That’s just as cruel in my opinion.

@@Boomeroni SeaWorld's only mistake was the bad PR and that they thought everyone would see Blackfish for what it is. Inside the parks, they have always had edutainment and always answered every question people had and accepted the concerns of people and showed them what really goes on. But outside the parks, they don't do enough of that. Their PR needs to step up their game big time. Animal Welfare has always been central at SeaWorld, at least until Joel Manby came along
