Legendary Lyubov Chachkova Sokolova. together with Gamova, Godina and Artamanova. I miss them :( Russian Volleyball team was never the same again after they retired.

Too many camera flash. That should have been forbidden as it can distract players.

Boy those newbies acting like a know it all volleyball fan, this is what they didn't get to see. Praising some overrated players of today and saying they were the best without referring to the likes of Sokolova, Gamova, Artamanova, and Mireya Luis obviously don't know what they're saying🤣🤦♂️

You are absolutely right! I can just laugh (or cry) when someone says that some player of today is the best ever... I just know they started watching volleyball couple of years ago... the best players ever were those in olympic final in Sydney and that's the fact.. imagine not knowing Sokolova, Artamonova, Mireya, Torres, Ruiz, Godina, Gamova etc... 🤡🤡🤡

@@_milana10 Magaly Carvajal, for instance, wasn't in Sydney. For most Cubans up until Atlanta 96, when she left Cuba, she was the best middle hitter ever. Her power in the middle of the net had no match, not even Regla Torres could hit the ball as hard as her. I love Regla Torres, but Magaly was something else. The Brazilian players from the 90s were terrified of her. Even Virna said in an interview. heheh

Mireya Luis the Queen of volleyball is 5'9 but during her heydays was known for her 36-inch vertical leap.

Not true. There were several setters before her who were better. Imilsis Tellez from Cuba and Irina Parkhomchuk from Russia were better. The Chinese and Japanese setters were also better. Paola Venturini from Brazil was also better.

Artamonova is better than Sokolova

They are both great players of russia..
@toottoot36194 жыл бұрын
Hmm Both are great but I would give Sokolova a slight edge because she is an all around player than artamanova and Sokolova is likeable / marketable than Artamanova. Not discrediting Artamanova here. Both are legendary players! :)
@arvinmadin65084 жыл бұрын
@@toottoot3619 agree, sokolova can do slide hits and quicks (like a middle blocker), artamonova can't do it, she is only focusing in sharp angles and fast spikes. Also artamonova has SLOWER moves than sokolova (e.g. chasing balls)
@chaosgod54444 жыл бұрын
Arvin Carey Artamonova and Sokolova has their own skills. Artamonova is more on stronger and fast spikes and her floor defense is great like a libero, while Sokolova can play Wing Spiker and also Middle so she can do running spikes
@arvinmadin65084 жыл бұрын
@@chaosgod5444 Sokolova is a more versatile player and can move faster, but artamonova's spikes are more powerful and sharp hahahaha. in middle and opposite hitting, sokolova is better but in outside spiking and backrow hitting, artamonova is betterr
