Solid review my man. I also discovered Nevill through the adaptation of The Ritual, and I want to read some of his books. I have The Ritual and Cunning Folk on my list because those two are the ones that interest me the most. The ones that nab my attention anyway. Sadly I haven't read this book yet, so I'll have to bounce at the spoiler bit.

Just finished reading this book and really enjoyed it. When i saw how short it was i got worried after just finishing "Last Days". But the story is the right length without too much exposition and wraps up nicely. Last Days is a good book really enjoyed it. Cunning Folk is the next one i need to get and read.

Glad you enjoyed it. I think I appreciate the experiment it was more than the story. But I can't fault anyone for trying new things. I have one of his other novels I want to try out soon. Cunning Folk. How was Last Days?

@@JasonFuhrman Last Days is a real page turner. Reminds me a bit of the style of Graham Masterson esp his "Ritual" book (I think the US version has a different name). It's about an broke amateur film/Documentary maker who is given a dream documentary to make focusing on the paranormal religion side of a 60s Cult which ends up a death Cult by the 70s. It's really good and twists and turns. Has some heavy moment but there is one part (not going to mention it) but when it's revealed your heart sinks. It's a good read. I'm generally a slow reader but I read the whole book in 3 days and it's one of his thicker books. Worth checking out.

Great review, Jason. I didn't know the book, but I'm including it in my to-read list. I recently read when Dying Is Not a Problem and have mixed feelings about the plot. I’d like to know your opinion. Thanks for sharing.

Not sure. Even if they don't, The Ritual was a decent movie. So he has that too be proud of.

nice review, which i agree with. my biggest problem was "the monster". that's what's so nice when writing horror. there are lots of them to pick from. neville chose poorly this time. i did like The Ritual though, and i'm curious about his other stuff, like the reddening and cunning folk. maybe i'll squeeze one of them in after gothic romance House of Shadows.

The Reddening is a good book but don't let the cover fool you into thinking it is a "monster" story. Lol I saw the cover and though ooohhh then read it and went Ohhhh. But the story twists and turns.

For some reason from the limited description of the Monster it reminded me of CS Lewis "The Last Battle".
