Am I the only one to notice how dumb it is for them to disclose their information to a YTer that can be easily checked in a search bar? Like dude, if you were really part of the group, and not simply an ARG then PLEASE check whether or not the guy you contacted is a YTer specifically interested in showcasing these activities. Considering how well-equipped and skilled in technology, considering making a game, and having multiple accounts and websites, blogs and forums, I don't think that guy behind it is illiterate when it comes to checking to whom they tell information in order to conceal their group identity.

It feels very wholesome--which is kind of the point. It makes you trust them. And you shouldn't trust them, because while they are asking for consent, it's not informed consent--they never actually tell you what you're agreeing to. But I agree.

I scrolled down looking for somebody to mention this because it seems immediately obvious to me, too. We're supposed to believe that so many hidden details were randomly discovered, accurately deciphered, and successfully applied by one random person? One random person who just suddenly felt like an intensive playthrough of a game which two years earlier he had tried and immediatley abandoned? And that was when it was new and people were buzzing about it so much. Then, he only gave it five minutes and followed that by two years of complete disinterest. Literally every individual piece of the anon's narrative strains credulity somehow. All the pieces together bring it to the level of outright absurdity. It would have been much more impressive and interesting if the project's creator had used multiple identities across multiple discussion platforms to make it appear as if each detail was either discovered independently or worked out collaboratively, all drip fed to us over an extended period of time. That would have kept the mystery alive for longer. But he was impatient and sloppy, we can see the man behind the curtain. Now we know the great and powerful Wizard isn't real.

It is possable ( how ever unlikly) that when that dialog box asking for him to put in a word the first word that came to his head was ascend. Again it is unlikly but still possable

This is an old video, but I'd like to mention something. Around 13 years ago my dad got a book in his PO box from an unknown source. Said book was thousands of pages long; I mean it was literally the size of a phonebook if not larger. It was about Ascenionism. It really was mostly about how to attain success along with a lot of nonesense. I think I still have it around somewhere (as my dad passed ten years ago) if you want me to dig it out and look into it again. Was interesting, to say the least.

They found out about acsensionism cult online and tied it to the game for no reason other than trolling. They found it funny and wanted to add it in to confuse people. Can we all just stop and take a second to realize these people created a fully functional and well made game just so they could set up a tie in to there cult. A link that was only discovered because some guy thought it would be funny to type “ascend” into a very specific prompt. Credit where it’s due, the subtlety and effort put in are very commendable.

Idk why so many people liked this comment. I guess i see the humor in it. But one of the most intriguing and engaging aspects of this ARG was the fact that someone had to randomly stumble upon it.. See, if it were me, i would do it the same way, and if no one ever found it, i'd make another with the same difficulty and link it to the first, and so on and so forth until someone DID find one. And then the treasure trove and immensity of what someone has found would be absolutely thrilling. It would feel as though someone has stumbled upon something great, and very purposefully hidden... just feels better to me.
