I was obsessed w the Strokes and Phrazes for the Young yet I didn’t find out about the Voidz till recently and I’m sad I haven’t been supporting them the whole time. Julian Casablancas is an amazing songwriter.

Probably my favorite song off my favorite album ever... beautiful.

As much as this song is about being a lonely kid stuck in high school, its also about how his dad affected him during those years. His dad did terrible things but he's still his dad. He's torn between loving him and hating him and in the end he says "I'm sorry that I can't forget." I know this because I am in the same situation. But, "sometimes its easier to cry, than try to figure out why."

Everything julian casablancas touches becomes a masterpiece

For me this song is so touching and brings bittersweet memories ; those teenage emotional ups and downs swinging you around like a hurricane, the intensity of high-school situations and rocky relationships with mom and dad… thinking to yourself “once i get older these things won’t really matter. But in reality, once you get older you realize it’s still an endless cycle of these feelings. Making life feel almost like a “permanent high-school”. Not being able to let go of the past but still desperately trying to move on. Everything seems to come back full circle, you seem to be reliving events that happened in the past. Luckily you learn from your mistakes, but sometimes your naïveté leads you to learn the hard way… almost like it’s a reminder that we all return to our child-like state of mind every now and again. Idk that’s just what this song means to me. I don’t think this music video gives any justice to this song and didn’t live up how much of a gem it really is ://

This honestly has to be one of my favorite songs from this album and the video goes with it so well. I love the way the neon lights are incorporated I think it really brings out the vibe the song has. Especially when videos of them on stage appear and it has similar tones of light I think it pulls it all together. I adore this so much my heArt.

The strokes, Julian with his solo album and specially with the voidz makes me feel like if I'm gonna be forever young even when the race against time is real, I don't know how to describe the feelings but when I hear their music I remember when I was in high school, I remember my friends, my band, my ex girlfriends and how I used to enjoy my youth with no worries, driving by the night listening to good music, and now I'm part of the system listening the voidz once more, asking me where are those dreams and wtf am I doing with my life, I'm suppused to be living...

Like all Julians creations- this album grows on you. I always find myself appreciating his stuff more and more with time.
