Amazing talk! This guy makes me wish I'd become an urban planner. Cars have ruined day to day life in North American cities, we're all getting fatter and angrier because of them. We need more women in city planning, women in our municipal governments to push for pedestrian and cycling friendly streets. My mother in law was one of the Dutch women who successfully campaigned to ban cars from the core of her city, we should be doing the same thing all across north America.

Question: sharrows and no stop signs work in other places. Why should we get away from that?

@@rasmusdamgaardnielsen2190 i think im thinking of the dutch street with the dashed lines on it. Those work but if we are talking about roads that just get the bike symbol painted on then I agree

@@adamknott7830 yes, you can make a wide bike lane which cars are occationally allowed in to pass other cars. But a road which is primarily for cars with bikes allowed through a marking in the road is an excuse to kill cyclists and to artificially inflate municipal "bike path" statistics

Cars have become much larger, and their drivers have become more entitled than ever. Thus, sharrows have simply become too dangerous.

@@ianhomerpura8937 like I told the other guy I was thinking of dutch streets with the hash marks not painted bike gutters. Im not a fan of the gutters

Montana, you need to save yourselves from California style zoning before you make the same mistakes. Build like they did in 1888. Your great great great grandparents had it right. Even your urban areas should feel like old town downtowns. Conserve and preserve the farms, game and wildlife areas for future generations. Enjoy the benefits of a fiscally conservative designed city infrastructure, and allow more nature to be nature.
