I didn't catch it during the first viewing but I did on the second: Herschel says to Rick that it was Otis's job to snare and barn the walkers. So I think sometime before Otis shot the deer, he must have found Sophia and put her in the barn and never told anyone. He must not have been around to hear about the search for her before Shane shot and sacrificed him. I do think that Sophia must have been seen during the walker feeds, though.

Shane would've fit right in if he was dropped into the apocalypse 1 year after it started. By then everyone would've gotten used to the hard life and (extreme) tough love. The group was simply not ready to swallow the whole truth AT THAT POINT.

The problem is he acts off emotion and not logic. Everything was building up this episode until he emotional snapped. He found out the Walkers were in the Barn, then he found out Lori was pregnant and he thinks its his, then Karl tells him off about Sopia, then Dale takes the guns out into the woods. It was too much against him that he emotionally broke.

to be fair Lori did sleep with Shane less then 1-2 weeks after her husband "died". In my book that still kinda counts as cheating, or at least shows that you don't really care all that much that he is gone. You wouldn't sleep with his best friend one week after his death if you really still love him.

In the end of the world, women will tend to look for safety with a strong man. Her sleeping with him was likely out of survival instinct, rather than her not loving Rick.

I remember missing the premier of this episode, I think due to work. My mom watched it tho and cried. We were both such huge fans of the show in those days lol Also: I'm pretty sure there's a line somewhere that states Otis was the one who was putting walkers in the barn, so there's a high chance Hershel didn't even know Sophia was in there, since Otis probably found her and put her in there on the first or second day she was missing.

While they aren't people anymore, understanding that Hershel and his family still Think they are people and their family, Shane was to them murdering their family in front of them. And in the end he was fine putting down Hershel's family in front of them, when it came to one of their own, he couldn't do it, and Rick had to step up. If Shane feels fine killing Hershel's family in front of him, then he should also be able do the same for one of his group, not even his family.

Wow Dawn, good thing y'all watched another Home Alone after this, otherwise you might have gotten some coal for showing them this one before Christmas 😄Feliz Navidad y prospero año! 🎄 I don't like Shane much, but I think he's an excellent character. Jon brought so much depth to someone who's basically just hot-tempered in the comics, and honestly I feel he makes a better guard dog than a leader because when he's in charge, he only wants to do things his way, and he only listens to others when it's personally advantageous. In a world like this that'll keep some people alive for the short term, but it's not a way to rebuild a society. I was starting to warm up to Maggie though, since she was the catalyst for getting Glenn to speak up for himself more.

Love your reactions. I know I'm late commenting on this but Lori said that Shane would never be the father because even if it is his baby she can't let him help raise him. It's not like she could give shane the baby on the weekends because of the world they live in now. They live under the same roof and it would create tension.

I often felt that if Shane was able to share the responsibility of raising Carl & the baby (even if he wasn't a part of Lori's life); and if Lori didn't shut him down so hard, that he might have not spiraled so much. But, I also thought that Dale was a dead man when Shane went to the wood to find him. It looked like he was becominng a very dangerous threat to anyone who opposed him. Mom is right. The moment Shane opened the barn doors, he put everyone in danger. At least before, they had time to consider the options. Yes, the walkers were a threat, every minute they were in there, but it is Hershel's property, and it's only by his good grace that they were there, and that Carl was alive. They needed to discuss options. Which is what Rick is trying to convey to Hershel.

While I understand what you were getting at with Lori shutting Shane down with it being possibly his child. Your assumption is based on that its defiantly his child. If its 100% Ricks then he shouldn't be a secondary dad to the child that isn't his. In this situation were you will never know who's kid it is, the decision would reside in what the mother wants, because we know 100% that it will be her child. Lori has no obligation to include Shane in the parenting of her baby because of this.

In most circumstances I advocate that the father should have a say. But this is an exception. That's Rick's wife, not Shane's, end of story. He shouldn't have been with her in the first place so soon after the supposed death of his brst friend. That was wrong. A bit more time should have passed. But bottom line, Rick is still there, she's still his wife, Shane needs to feck off and show respect.

So I am behind watching your reactions but I am a little confused at the Shane/Lori input. With her saying that Shane will not be the father, it’s Ricks baby or even how she is “pushing Shane away”, what else is she supposed to do? Her husband is back, Is she supposed to date them both? Is she supposed to hold hands with Shane around the farm and sleep with Rick at night. She needs to separate her family from Shane in that sense. She is with her husband and honestly Shane was a mistake. However I truly believe that given a year or more of a bad relationship between Lori and Rick, I find it very possible that Shane would have been a comforting ear. But she’s owes him nothing at this point.

I believe Rick knows for sure it's not his baby due to the fact he didn't have sex with Lori for some time it seems. Only Rick and Lori would know that. How long was Rick in the hospital? A couple of weeks maybe? How long did it take for him to reunite with Lori? It could have been weeks that he was wondering through his home town before he met Morgan, found a horse, galloped into Atlanta, met Glenn, and reunited with his family. It seems like a matter of days when watching it on tv, but realistically it could've been months. I don't exactly know how much I would desire having sex with my ex partners wife, but that is another story. Lastly, why would Lori and Shane have unprotected sex in the first place? IRRESPONSIBLE.
