Hey guys - only one week left until Season 8 premieres! I edited this video together showing the best moment from each season as a re-cap from the past 7 years of this show! Here is an explanation for each moment and why I chose it...also, sorry for the poor titles, on this, I spent a lot of time just rendering and waiting with this one, so I didn't choose the best font :/, and I think this is my last "non-edit" video like this, so enjoy :)
Season 1/CDC Explosion - For this season, I was torn between choosing the scene where the walkers attack the camp or this CDC escape scene. I had to go with this one because it showed Rick and the group that not only was everyone infected (that we learn later in S02) but that they might regret this day later on "the day will come when you won't be".
Season 2/Shane's death - For season 2, I already knew I wanted to pick this scene because this is arguably the best scene of the whole series. Shane has fully gone crazy and is now going to try to kill Rick. I love the way Shane calls him out for having a weak boy, broken wife, and how he contradicts himself by saying "I'm not the good guy anymore". Also, Rick killing Shane, his best friend, showed him that it truly is kill or be killed, and that the world he knew was completely gone. If you want to survive in this world, you have to kill others or else you will die.
Season 3/Governor's First Attack - This season had a lot of great moments, like the group clearing/taking the prison, Lori's death, the attack on Woodbury, etc., but this one was very important. The quick change in tense from 2 people laughing enjoying themselves to a quick paced all out gunfight was a very great moment. This showed the group that good things don't last long (like the prison, or the moment before Lori died when she was smiling at Rick). This was also the thing that set Rick off to want "war" with the Governor. The scene set the tone for the next season until the final battle in 4x8.
Season 4/Rick Kills Joe - This has to be my favorite scene from the show. The pure brutality that Joe's group shows to Rick and Carl was hard to watch. I could never imagine watching my child getting molested right in front of my eyes, with a gun to my head. Rick had to think fast, and use the only weapon he had on him, his teeth. This scene not only was very important for Rick's transformation, but it is very thematic to the title of the show "the walking dead", because Rick is killing his victims like a walker, using his teeth to bite into his enemy.
Season 5/Reg Death, Pete Death, Morgan Returns - Although season 5 had some amazing scenes like terminus, rick & red handled machete, and discovering Alexandria, this scene had it all. Reg dies, Rick (without hesitation) shoots Pete in the head, and then in the middle of all of this, Morgan returns. It was 3 major things happening within 2 minutes.
Season 6/Negan introduced, POV kill - Although we saw a lot this season with the wolves attacking, the herd of walkers that attack Alexandria, and Carl loosing his eye, this scene was the start of it all. Knowing that someone was going to meet there end, but having to wait 10 minutes for Negan to finish talking was very intense and I remember sweating the whole time watching the episode. It was hard to watch the POV shot of Negan bashing in the brains of the unknown.
Season 7/All out War starts - Season 7 was very different from the rest of the seasons. It started with 2 of our favorite characters getting murders by someone with a baseball bat. It was a slow and depressing season, so a scene like this was amazing to see after a long/sad season. The group is finally back on their feet, and they are ready to kick ass again. I cannot wait for season 8!
