@@johndow7689 Jim Brewer actually talks about this weird double standard Lorne has when it comes to things like that. Jim came up with a skit where a guy was drunk in the skit and Lorne said “no,” and attributed this ‘no’ to Belushi and Farley. Yet a week later Colin Quinn (who was a head writer at the time) did a Saint Patrick’s day skit on weekend update that Moynahan later took and turned into “drunk uncle.” Its kinda strange

@@bringiton5282 The Jennifer Lawrence one was a one-off about a Civil War soldier who wanted a picture of his beloved's breasts. The only thing funny about it was the end where Bill Hader (as Abraham Lincoln) closes the dead soldier's eyes, looks at the camera, and cries over how the war is killing good men and tearing the country apart.

@@KyleRayner12 the allies didn't have meth only the nazis/axis did,the allies used dextroamphetamine because you can still sleep during the day after a night raid,the nazis had to stay up for days on end with meth and the allies would sleep and it hit them at night in the desert

The second "awkward man with an impossibly hot wife" sketch was them winning a home makeover (that had Jennifer Lopez). The first one was the natural disaster (that one was Margot Robbie).

Actually it does make some sense because the kiss was actually non consensual as the pair had never met. In fact, I've read that the sailors girlfriend was in a restaurant near waiting for him or something. I studied a bit of the photographs history for a school paper and was really surprised to find this out so I thought I should share ☺️

@@sophieleitao7219 : It was an exuberant sailor caught up in the joy of knowing that killing & dying was over! To conflate it with sexual assault is unfair. For decades, the two people were unknown to the public & several people claimed to be in the picture, so there wasn’t a stigma to it-it was just seen as joyous celebration! Remember too that nurses were considered heroes by soldiers & sailors, so he saw the white uniform & kissed her.

Mikey Day is turning himself into one of the best to ever be on the show. This skit will be his SNL calling card. He's completely versatile, does multiple characters, and can do accents well. It will be interesting to see what path he goes down after SNL.

@@robertgibson3315 Good observation. Keenan Thompson went sitcom. For them, it has to be huge, but I think it dulls them. The cast members over the past few years have been spectacular. I was watching the original NRFPT folks when young and have stuck with it most seasons. I just noted the incredible amount of talent that keeps showing up. I think it kicked up with Will Farrell but many would argue this or that. It's hard to mention just one current cast name without immediately thinking of another. Mikey Day pulled off one of the funniest ever with the "Space Lab" skit with Steve Carrell. There are a few skits that brought tears when first seen, ( Pete Sweaty and his Christmas Balls), and the "Space lab " skit was certainly one of those...

I fucking love this sketch. You never know where the diamonds are going to come from in it. "Mary! YOU HAVE SENT ME COCAINE!" is good enough to make John Mulaney go "Damn, wish I'd written that."

They have been my absolute favorite since they started in 2018. This one and the one with Keenan are my favorites. I watch them over and over again because they never fail to cheer me up and make me laugh when I need it. Stop sending me cocaine!

It has been some time since I have seen a SNL show as good as this one. Cary Mulligan was so involved that she deserves much of the credit. She is more than a serious actor, she is funny as well.

Fun fact that nobody asked for: The photo of his wife kissing a random dude at the end was a photo taken when a man who was on a date with another woman. When he heard the war was over, he ditched his date, got drunk, and kissed the first nurse he saw

This is by far my favourite series of sketches. Each one has a bit that I actually giggle about when I recall them. The photo that WW1 wife sends and the lock of hair from the WW2 wife played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Long may it continue.

This skit is even funnier in a way because it pays homage to her own real grandfather’s naval service in the Royal Navy during WW2. I just saw her in a documentary about her researching her grandfather’s naval service last night.
