The marketing strategy for the Nintendo Switch is genius. Not only do they advertise for teens, and adults, they have games for children, and market to families, something like getting a TV for your family. They’ve brought back the idea of the console being for the whole family, and that’s what sold them so many units

And since it's primarily a portable the kids will all want their own Switch. 1 or 2 TV households with 3 kids could end with 3+ Switch consoles. Instead 1or2 TV console.

Nintendo always relies on its games and the "purity" of fun factor. Sure they do the occasional gimmick but it's always about the games.

I just hate how slow the fps is and how the joysticks start drifting after not even that long... also the thing on the back that keeps the switch standing, detach it once on accident and its never going to be as durable as it was. Could be cause older models are so much worse than the new ones but ehh

Let's not forget that the PS2 came out back when the PS1 was still getting new releases and it stayed around until a few months before the release of the PS4, making it the longest running console ever at 13 years.

I have always been with Microsoft and Nintendo, but in 2019, after been considering getting a PS2 for about 15 years, I finally bought 1 at an anime con, and ironically from that same one, also bought a Dreamcast from

Agreed. I have an xbox and a pc but if you got an xbox one/series X or S or ps4/5 or a switch or even PC and it works for you, then do you. Long as youre gaming. Thats what really matters.

Exactly. I'm a ps5 user, but its hilarious how people are choosing sides based on who is winning the console wars. Like how does the console wars contribute to your gaming life? If you're a long time fan of Halo, go ahead and stick to xbox. Whoever wins doesn't determine your gaming experience. You are looking for games to play, not a company to work for. Their profitability or popularity doesn't affect you 😂

I feel like comparing the next gen consoles and the switch isnt fair, as the switch wasnt designed to be a powerful device, it was designed so you can play games on the go and on a big tv, but the next gen consoles are powerful but not portable, but I just want to state that even if it came out at the same time, it would have 38 million sales, not counting the over consoles

Well with Nintendo it makes sense because the switch is just so fragile, i once used the wrong charger and it just stopped working, while with my xbox one from 2013 has been dropped more times then i can count and its still going

@Logan Mega well, actually the reason it sold so much was mainly because of how much hype surrounded it prior to 2016, every Nintendo fan was coming off of how they felt about the Wii U weather it be a good feeling or not so great, which surprisingly enough a lot of people who had it actually enjoyed it rather than trashing it because it didn't sell amazingly. This new console offered promise of an experience worth purchasing since the power of the gamecube, and it was slightly more affordable than the PS4 And XBOX ONE at the time

@Effective lion what the heck are you even doing to the joycon because it took me 2 years to replace mine that I have thousand of hour playing games meanwhile my sister took 1 year because she keep tossing her switch or joycon by accident and let her rabbit pissed on it to the point the circuit board got wet and the controller went nuts. I still have my V1 while my sister has V2 animal crossing. Since I do some controller maintenance replacing the analog stick costing 2$ each I have no problem fixing it anyway.

Microsoft doesn't have any good exclusives because they don't need to be stingy like sony and openly admits they want everyone that games to be able to game together. Meanwhile sony prevents people from being able to pay together unless they buy their console and in the past have had to have their arm twisted to allow cross platform. (Fortnite) now they have destroyed helldivers and it's pretty obvious sony don't give a damn about the community. Microsoft is one of 4 companies to break ner worth of 2 trillion, where is sony at, down at the bottom with fast food franchises lol.

Xbox knew they lost awhile back, the reason they don't care about being the " Best " is because they introduced the " Xbox Game Pass " which is something even Playstation copied right after Xbox, shamelessly. The Switch is from the PS4/Xbox One Era, we are still waiting on what will be current generation from Nintendo. Ratchet and Clank is one of Sony's mascot IP's, it's pretty well known. I miss how the console wars used to be, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo would be firing on all cylinders to one up each other, that was how we got so many bangers. Now since Microsoft fell off over a decade ago, Sony is making some weird and stupid moves and Nintendo hasn't really changed in what they do. Lack of competition causes complacency, it's why Nintendo and Sony haven't tried anything risky. They don't have to worry about Xbox anymore and don't really have a reason to compete with each other since they have different targeted demographics.

Could just go buy a disk from gamestop and slap that bad boy in and your ready to goooo. I remember getting my xbox one and so excited to play. I didn't have internet so I couldn't even set it up. I was pissed. Had to wait 2 months to go to my grandmas house and got it set up and went home and what do you know. Have to have internet to download the fuckin games 😂 oh man good times. The marketing of Sony and Nintendo is better than Microsoft. But each console is better in their own way. In my opinion, Xbox is better than Playstation because I can play any generation of xbox games on my Series X or S. The hardware of each console is slightly different, but not by much. The software is the major difference. So this whole war is just a marketing thing to help make money.

The idea is they undersell the console and get the money from people purchasing games on the Xbox services as the players who use an Xbox are forced to use their services. It’s because Microsoft hasn’t really cared for the games at all. Buying the companies doesn’t mean your gonna automatically get more units and do a better job at making them. Switch beat both because most of the games they have are exclusive while Sony has good “exclusives” ( even tho most go on pc along with xbox exclusives ) Xbox hasn’t had a good exclusive in years. Halo infinite was a huge disappointment. Sony and Nintendo deserve it. Only thing the Xbox has technically is better stats power wise but who cares if you don’t have any thing to offer besides that.
