In this documentary, street musician Gerry Van King (a.k.a. the King of 6th Street) presents some of his experiences with the Austin police department and the City of Austin related to him being cited and arrested for performing without a permit. King assembles here a selection of news stories, addresses to city council (including his own) and other various video clips, to tell his story.
In November of 2002, King was cited by APD while playing his bass guitar in front of Jazz Louisiana Kitchen (now BBG's) on 6th street in Austin, Texas, something he had been doing for over a decade. In February 2003, King was arrested while performing in the same spot.
