This sounded great but I will be going back to Lusario for the remainder of these after reading all the comments on Crimson Queen. Thank you all!

I had not put it into those words, but yes, they are a bit of a nerdy band. They have grown up with and in music since little kids in a way that very few do. Add that to their broad interests and intelligence, and you get a band of nerdy sisters. If that is the future of rock, I am all in.

They don't always play this song anymore, but it has always been a fan favorite. They did a show last night in Bogota, Colombia for a sold out crowd of 4500 people, which is now the largest venue they had played as a headliner. Both their shows at Teatro Metropolitan last year sold out at over 3000 people each time. That was their previous record. In a couple of weeks they are performing at the Pepsi Center in Mexico City, another sold out show at 8000+. It's been an amazing last couple of years to watch them continue to grow in popularity and exposure to a wider audience. I think their newer material from the Error album was composed with the intention of performing it live. There are times you will see Dany singing with minimal or no guitar accompaniment while Pau and Ale are holding down the beat and rhythm elements of the song. There is some backing track going on even there, but as you point out, the structure is simpler. David Bendeth worked with them extensively in the studio to make their album sound more like their live performance and I think that is the direct result.

In Ugh the obsession is clearly growing and is consuming the Queen. She is afraid of what she is becoming. She doesn’t want it to be that way, she wants it to be simple (“I don’t want to understand, I just want to hold your hand”). She asks to be saved and feels that she is sinking down into a trap. She doesn't know it at this point, and doesn't intend it, but there will soon be blood on her hands.

Operation Mindcrime by Queensryche is the concept album standard of brilliance to me. I absolutely love that album to this day. Does anyone out there know if these fantastic ladies have ever heard it? I'd love to know that. I'm only 2 weeks new to The Warning but I've been diving in headfirst since and I'm really getting into the Queen of the Murder Scene album, especially. Dust To Dust, Ugh and the title track are taking turns dominating my brain and I love it. I wouldn't exactly compare QotMS to Operation: Mindcrime straight up, yet, but my opinion of QotMS is quickly rising to approach that level. And Pau wrote most/all of the lyrics at 16?! And Ale wrote these basslines AT 13??!! DAMN!!

*Ugh Backstory Fun Facts:* First: *Crimson Queen* was a last minute song added to this album. Pau did not play or sing on the studio track. It was a tune Dany playing around with. Redo the lyrics to fit the story. You have song. Now *Ugh* was a complete opposite song. It went through 20 different changes. Two songs on *QotMS (The One & The Sacrifice)* was earlier drafts of *Ugh.* At one point DPA (Dany, Pau & Ale) wanted to drop *Ugh* altogether but their father asked them to finish the song. The working title was *Ugh* like in *"Ugh. Not that song again".* When it came time to name the song. *Ugh* stuck.

Great reaction Mike. Yes! I love what seems to be a Rush influence especially with Ale’s bass line. What can you say about Pau’s drumming? Fearless. As someone who spent my youth playing guitar, it’s Dany that draws me in. She moves effortlessly from rhythm to lead but what blows my mind is when she plays lead while singing lead…sometimes in syncopation but often playing parts wholly different from the main melody. They’re magic to me. It’s one thing to be a garage band at 18, 16 and 13. It’s all together spectacular to write a concept album that is still rocks and is finally getting recognition 6 years later.

There are actually two professionally recorded performances of QOTMS, one at Lunario and one at Foro Didi a few months later. Lunario is full of passion and energy but the altitude occasionally impacts Dany's vocals (not bad). Foro Didi is a cleaner sound recording but the show had several technical problems. In fact, the girls lost the tracks during a song, and no one really noticed. I didn't even notice until Pau pointed it out on a chat. In any event, you can't go wrong sticking with Lunario unless it's a song they played at the Teatro Metropolitan which is by far the better sound quality.

Yep; they kind of deliberately compose the "fill-in" back tracks so that if everything bombs out, they can still perform a recognizable and mostly complete version of their tunes. A very wise and perceptive decision by a bunch of teenagers. 😋

I would stick with the lunario concert for queen of the murder scene songs since you are a bass player .. in the lunario concert the bass is louder and crunchy! Ale just kills it in the lunario concert too . These sings so far are on the 1st chapter of obsession . Chapter 2 go from obsession to abduction and murder , chapter 3 just gos off the charts with the characters internal battle of good and evil .. Love your reaction channel, it seems you and I listen to music in the same way. And yes, this album the music is a little more intricate, especially the bass riffs. Songs like queen of the murder scene don't sound difficult but when you start isolating the individual instruments you can then see its a little more complicated than it sounds.

One of my favorites from the album, until the next one, but it wasn't a favorite while they were writing it, hence the name Ugh. There were things they were stuggling to make work and ended up cannibalizing other songs to finish this one. So every time they had to work on it drew a "UGH" and the name stuck.

*Ugh Outro:* On the studio version of *Ugh.* The outro is played on the keyboards instead of guitar. Dany learned the keyboard outro on her guitar. *FOR YOUR INFO:* Most (97%) of The Warning songs starts of acoustically. Starts on PIANO (98%) by Pau. A melody, riff or doodling. Then Pau takes it to her sisters. They they work on it. During a vlog. Pau said she wrote the premise of QotMS to be more bloody than it is. Dany & Ale said nope. Not doing that. They say whatever works. Don't break it.

Pau comes up with the most song ideas out of the 3 but it's nowhere near the made up number of 98% you listed... that would mean out of the 40-50 songs they have released Pau would have come up with all except for 1 song.... They have never talked about who started maybe 30% of their released songs. There are at least 10 songs that come to mind right now without looking them up that they have said Pau did not start, other songs come out of bits from group sessions that then turn into songs, so you have no clue the % of songs that were started by Pau Why list % when fans have no clue about such details?

Thanks for an outstanding reaction pointing out some of the very sophisticated and creative aspects of one of their lesser known songs (many people know almost all they know from the Error period). As for their use of tracks, they are far more automated (in a good sense) than the typical audience member realizes. Pau is sitting next to a computer as she plays. She has programmed every song with a click track, so the tempo of every tune never varies from show to show. She also programmed in all of the effects tracks, and there are more than the typical audience member realizes, but as you pointed out, they are subtle and usually only detectable to someone who's actually looking for them. You mentioned Rush, another trio. Instrumentally, as accomplished as these three chicas are, from that standpoint Rush could play rings around them (and 99.9% of other bands as well). All three members of Rush need to be viewed as musical prodigies. It's a miracle they found each other and formed a band . But there's a major advantage The Warning has over Rush. They are better songwriters. Much as I love and respect Rush, it's snippets from The Warning's songs I find myself singing in the shower or humming while making dinner. They are masters at making at least one part of every song memorable. Call it a hook or an earworm. And they do it consistently now that they've hit their stride. I'm reminded of the golden period of The Beatles when they were putting out one #1 hit after another. I actually think that they are the best and most consistently good rock band to come along since The Beatles! And they put on a far better show than The Beatles ever did. I know: I'm 77 and actually saw The Beatles live.

Hey Mike, I suspect you'd be happy to check what kind of gear Dany is using on stage!? and who'd be better to explain than her! The Warning. Dany Day...Guitar Gear III Live 01052020 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iMtdgJZ_s9yleJc.html Of course, some of the equipment has probably changed (She's been expericencing with 2 different guitar pedals) but, you'll get the driff. TW also says that it's nice to have the technic, but if it fails, which it does now and then, they are not freaking out - they just play a more basic sound.

I can understand why people would prefer you stick to the Lunario concert for consistency. Maybe, at the risk of making the individual videos too long, view both Lunario and Teatro performances. Four years can make a big difference when you were as young as they were for Lunario. And there are only 3 more Teatro performances from this album.

While Dany can do some pretty amazing things with her guitar processor she’s only one person. There seem to be a segment of fans that can’t accept that TW use backing tracks and that includes guitar tracks. Every siren, scream, keyboard (in later shows) etc is a backing track in addition to subtle guitar parts as you mentioned. They also track backing vocals in certain parts of certain songs…shocker. I share your opinion that as long as tracks don’t comprise a majority of your sound onstage, they add a fullness to the performance. IMO, TW are very cognizant of backing track usage during live performances and make a concerted effort to limit said usage to a minimum. TW themselves have had bands open for them that don’t even have a bass player onstage.

They have been using technology (inearz and backing tracks) way back in their Tedx shows. Their backing tracks are always something they played, sang, screamed, or laughed themselves. Since you are going through the entire QOTMS album, I suggest that you watch their vlogs 23, 25, and 26 from back in 2018 where they discuss writing the songs. Once you are done with a chapter, they have 3 VLOGs on their KZfaq channel where they discuss this album, VLOGs #23 for chapter 1&2, #25 for chapter 3 & #26 for chapter 4, if I remember correctly, so I would be really interested for you to react to those, if you think this is something that would interest you. Also regarding the backing tracks, I do not mind them, as the audio engineer on ERROR stated that everything on the album is played by them, no session musicians were used whatsoever and fans that have been at shows where the laptop crashed, confirmed that they were able to play the rest of the show fine without any issues. Where I do have a problem is like with Falling in Reverse backing out of their performance at WIIL Rock Fest 2022 after the laptops they use for their set went missing, now when you have to cancel a show for that, you are over-relying on the tracks. Lastly being a musician, I would be really interested in you reacting to the following videos. They have change some equipment, but it is still fascinating to hear them speak about their thought process. The Warning: Dany equipment rundown kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pbxpdcmFy8vVeJc.html The Warning: Dany's Line 6 Helix LT pedalboard kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p8qqjat9mJjDeY0.html The Warning: Ale equipment rundown kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d6qba812stiUmY0.html The Warning: Pau equipment rundown kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qcp6pLyj39nKh5s.html

I generally agree with this, and in their case, yes it's too much reliance on tracks. HOWEVER, even bands that don't use heavy tracks would still have a problem in that circumstance. In modern live shows, the lights are synced with "the tracks" even if there is nothing on those tracks. But that's why you should always have a backup laptop...
@reactionsaccount3955
@reactionsaccount3955 8 ай бұрын
@@MikeReichert There has to be more than that, otherwise you can still play a show without special lighting, as long as you have good sound and the band can really perform without artifices, you should be good. The Warning also uses a click track with the projections and lighting synced with that and when they lost the laptop, they were still able to play the show.
@MikeReichert
@MikeReichert 8 ай бұрын
@@reactionsaccount3955 often there is even more to it than the lights. A lot of acts will also use the MIDI signals embedded in those same files to change their guitar pedal effects settings, settings to the vocal effects that are happening at the front of house mixing board, possibly even the changes on the mixing board itself like when a guitar solo comes in it is automatically boosted or when a different vocalist is singing it automatically adjusts for that. There are a ton of things automated in modern rock shows. Yes, most of these bands could.still pull off a show without that, but it would be a noticeable downgrade. That video would then be posted to KZfaq and would negatively affect the band. So I can understand why even a band that uses no tracks at all would prefer to cancel for a lost laptop. But I cannot for the life of me imagine ever allowing myself to be put in that situation. I would have a backup and a backup for the backup at all times. Thank you for watching and engaging with my channel!

This tune has definitely "grown on me". At first, I didn't understand why they named it "Ugh", even after I read the story of why (as no doubt noted below, the name comes from the frustration of assembling it and repeatedly practicing it), because on first listen it seemed kind of... I don't want to say "bland", but disjointed and difficult to follow. After several listens, I began to pick up on the lyrics and subtleties of the music and how it was constructed and performed. And by this point in time, they have it down _flat_ . I definitely now get why they had so much trouble and needed to be encouraged to finish and polish it up. This song is a labor of love, from start to finish, most definitely. I must say, just based on the song selections from QOTMS performed in this particular show - my favorite album from them thus far - I would be delighted to see them do the whole album performance live today, just because they've so clearly mastered what they wanted to do when the album was produced. In just 5/6 years (from the album's debut), they have grown so much musically, it's astonishing and absolutely mesmerizing how they perform these pieces today.
