This song is not actually part of QOtMS. It was a song written by an extremely homesick Dany for a songwriting assignment while they were at Berklee. Beautiful song, performed heartbreakingly here :)

Dany had an assignment when they were at Berklee to write a song. She was super homesick and this is the masterpiece that resulted.

Zack, I've heard all their material, many times, and I think this is one of their top ten songs of all times. Great inspiration - stuck in Boston, speaking English most of the day, for five weeks, with family, but with a hectic schedule and people around her who had entirely different cultures and work ethics. They were all homesick for friends and food, and Dany wrote this for an assignment. She's said many times, when the emotion comes out, a song comes out. This one is personal for her. She lets loose on it. *Crimson Queen* from QOTMS, is hers, too.

Among the fandom, this song is known as "Huele à Melón" (smells of melon) because it kinda sounds like what she's singing.

This is Danny's song. Notice she sings it all by herself no backs singers. Also starts and ends with one light on her.

One of my absolute favourite TW moments is Dany doing acoustic version of this in giant venues and thousands of people singing "When I'm alone" together. Kind of sums up TW in a lot of ways. Irony and tears and happiness at the same time!

I was in front of Dany at a very emotional portrayal of this song at Auditorio Pabellon M in Monterrey. Perhaps that is a version you should at least go watch.

Thanks Zack...this is not part of the QoTmS album...this was written by Dany when at Berkeley music school in Boston as a teen...she was lonely, missed her home in Monterrey and was given an assignment to write a song...this is the song...her heartfelt missing her home, she is the only vocal on this for a reason....her song. The Lunario concert seperates the QOTMS album into 4 chapters of 3 songs, and each chapter has a song from their previous album between.

*When I'm Alone* *When I'm Alone* is Dany's song... Ale and Pau accompany with only their instruments... no harmonies or backing vocals... the blacked out solo beginning and ending with Dany alone in the spotlight is beautiful and quite fitting for this song and what it represents... Dany wrote this when the girls were at Berklee Music College (aka BMC) in Boston back in 2015 attending the summer session they offer(ed)... she got very homesick and also had a homework task to write a song... she hadn't any ideas, time was running out, and being homesick was devastating... she recorded a teary vlog about it... afterward she realized she could harness the emotions and pain she was feeling to write her song... i haven't heard what grade she got for it but many of us hope it was an A+... Dany has also stated several times that when she writes a song, it is from her heart and whatever emotions she is feeling at the time... so here we are enjoying this truly heartfelt song of loneliness and heartache... speaking of Berklee Music College, their concert at "Liceo" (basically Spanish for "learning place" or "high school") had multiple purposes... for one purpose, the story is that they needed something to submit to Berklee showing Ale's and Pau's chops and how well they played their instruments... this because both of them were less than 15 years old which is/was the age cut off for the summer program they were wanting to attend... so each of them chose a song to show off their talents... IIRC, those songs were "Hysteria" for Ale, "Everlong" for Pau, and "Crazy Train" for Dany... apparently BMC accepted their submissions because all three girls attended at the same time... while they were there they did vlogs to send to Ellen DeGeneres to keep her and her show up to date on how they were doing while at BMC... this because Ellen and Target gave each of the girls a check to help pay for them to attend the summer session at BMC... This song is not part of the Queen of the murder scene Album/story. Great song though. I think we can all relate to it.

In later concerts, Dany does this one alone. Pau & Ale aren't even on the stage. It's incredibly powerful. Not only was she a homesick teen when she wrote this, I've read she was also feeling the weight of being the mother figure to Pau & Ale while all 3 were at Berklee.

As I understand it, they were away from home, away from pets, away from friends, at Berklee College of Music summer session learning music in a foreign language (English). One of the assignments was to write a song. Dany was frustrated and not able to come up with any ideas. I often wonder about how her Berklee classmates respond when they see her perform this song. BTW, Pau and Ale find the song boring because they have so little to do. The acoustic version is perfect because it truly is only Dany's song. This version is one of my favorites because of the crowd interaction. Also they performed it at their 2017 TEDx talk.

There's something about this particular performance of this song that I will never get tired of no matter how many times I hear it. Sometimes Dany is able to pull your soul in closely and make it feel like she's singing directly to you. Great reaction!

One of my top 5 favorite Warning songs and it has such a great back story. My first Patreon hand lyrics were this song. There is another great version of this from the Pepsi Center in Oct 2023. She is sitting on a stool singing it and just takes a couple of breaks to talk to the audience.

The solo intro with minimal guitar evolved earlier in 2022. They had performed the studio version with full accompaniment for years, ie Tedx 2017.

If you haven't already seen it, there's a video of when they got the scholarships from Ellen to go to Berklee School of Music. You'll see Dany as she's kind of breaking down about being lonely and away from home.

There is one version, relatively recently where the others go offstage and Dany does the entire song with just her and her acoustic guitar. It is a more intimate version of this old The Warning song. Still, this was an excellent version. I like it much more than the original 2016 version.

Huela Melon! You should check out her version from Guadalara in 2023. Just Dany and her guitar, with a great talk to the crowd in the center, in Spanish, but that shouldn't be a problem for you. There is no official video from The Warnings channel, but several good fan cam videos, my favorite from Orlando Sabogal. Another great reaction Zack!

There is another version with her and he acoustic guitar only. Very emotional, i cant remember what venue that one was performed in. Very highly recommended.

Yeah, that's why I always post links of full concerts, so people know what's up. At the Lunario, she performed this track which is off XXI Century Blood in between chapters of QOTMS. This is one of those rare songs that actually comes from personal experience, as opposed to consuming media, which influenced many of their older tracks. Actually, you like, you can catch a wonderful version of this song pre QOTMS era at the 2017 Ted Talk performance.

I could see why you would think that the song was part of Q, it totally fits. Homesick Dany while in Berklee. She was blank until the day before the songwriting assignment. Just a great song by her.

This song and Survive are the only songs still played from debut album. Both crowd favorites. As of late she’s been doing this song, alone. With just her and her Fender Acousticasonic. I will be curious to see if they keep them in new sets with the Keep me Fed tour

This song has been performed many different ways, from the short Dany solo intro to a longer intro like this one but last Fall they did a series of shows in Mexico where they did a few interesting things including Dany playing When I'm Alone by herself sitting on stage playing and electric acoustic version. You know, it's funny that this isn't even on QOTMS, But because he thought it was the way you interpreted.It actually kind of works. I. Could see this is like a prequel just showing the depths of the queen's depression and loneliness. It explains why she became so attached to someone that even remotely paid attention to her. Initially , it was hard for me to think of it that way since I know it's about danny being sad , but what a way to think about it , huh??

Not QotMS. If you’re going by the Lunario setlist they have extra songs from their first album in there. This song is 100% Daniella Villarreal. And just like the person, this song has evolved. From the album to Dakota to Lunario to here & on to Diana & Pepsi Center. Getting better with every version, Pepsi Center is just magical.

Plenty of emotion and vulnerability in this rendition. Lighting was perfect too, with the sole spotlight on her in the beginning, and then the spotlight stayed on her at the end for a few seconds after the other stage lights had gone out. And how about that guitar solo?! One of those solos you can hum every note to.

Dude this is not part of the QOTMS saga! You've dropped the ball on the QOTMS story. Shame. It really has to be done via the LUNARIO concert for continuity - and there are, like, four songs in that concert that are not part of the story but, oh well, any WARNING songs in whatever willy-nilly order is always a good thing. I hope on your own time you can take on the QOTMS saga properly to really appreciate this concept album that is so masterfully written, - it's a frickin masterpiece!
