A street gang known as The Warriors Movie 1979 must fight their way from the Bronx to their home turf on Coney Island when they are falsely accused of assassinating a respected gang leader.
Cyrus, the leader of the most powerful gang in New York City, the Gramercy Riffs, calls a midnight summit for all the area gangs, with all asked to send nine unarmed representatives for the conclave. A gang called The Warriors are blamed for killing Cyrus as he gives his speech. They now have to cross the territory of rivals in order to get to their own 'hood. The Warriors slowly cross the dangerous Bronx and Manhattan territories, narrowly escaping police and other gangs every step of the way.

@@moviesandpopcorn2958 First time I ever saw the film was in kindergarten around the 88-89 era on Fox36 in Toledo. And it was the beginning scenes of Cleon' s & NY gangs' introduction and Bronx conclave with Cyrus. 4-5 years later in the summer '93' finishing 4th grade, I've watched it again on USA Network Sunday movie afternoon where Swan, Ajax, Snow & Cowboy battled the Baseball Furies to the restroom fight with the Punks. And then in December '94' 6th grade, I've watched the entirety from top to bottom

New York city was a shithole back then. When I was a kid in the 80s growing up in Texas I was in love with New York when I actually went in my 20s to play shows with my band, It was a shock to say the least, we arrived at the club we were going to play at, and u went outside to smoke a cigarette and this dude in a 3 piece suit came up to me, asking for a dollar, I was just thinking who the fuck approaches somone dressed like that, asking for money. Only in new york. Im glad I got to visit it several times, but im also glad i didn't grow up in that cess pool.
@bigdrew565
@bigdrew565 17 сағат бұрын
@@metalmacabre9991 yeah, anyone who wishes those days to come back doesn't really know what the fuck they're asking for. My dad did 20 years as a cop, mostly in Harlem. 1968-88. It was sheer desperation for most people who didn't live or work in Midtown. Especially in the Bronx and Bushwick. There was no hope, the city was broke. You had black militants assassinating cops. Crack Cocaine. and about 6 million people with no way out. My dad still has nightmares about jobs he went to, friends of his from his academy class who got killed on the job during the 70s and 80s. The city was burning. In 1979, the city had 1700 murders. and reported violent felonies (assaults, robberies) were through the roof throughout the city. The murder rate would pretty much remain at that level until 1992. My dad never took us to NY when we were kids unarmed. Even at Radio City Music Hall.

Almost the same. I had an aunt who was alive at the time with her three sons in the same house. The sons were around the same age range as these guys. They had spoken about the 70s and cherished it dearly. When her oldest son passed away in 84, they never were the same or moved on with the times. Back in the late 80s to late 90s when I went visit them. The aura in that house and even in the neighborhood they were in never moved on from the 70s. Right now, it's just one of them still alive. Whenever I watched the Warriors including other movies from the 70s, I always remembered them. I heard listened to a person once and said that, if you had the best time of your life in that decade, be sure the next period won't be the same.

The 70's and 80's were the golden era for movie soundtracks. Years later I use to repeat the phrase, "Warriors, come out and play", and many people weren't hip enough to know what I was talking about.

Luther (David Patrick Kelly) is probably my favorite character throughout the entire movie. Not because I liked him so much, but because the acting was *_SO_* damn good my hate for him was intense. He made Luther so hated that you get aggravated just listening to him speak in that whiny, cowardly voice. You rock, David Patrick Kelly!!

I like they how they let him basically go with the character and he improvised the whole bottles and chant thing in the car. Turning that scene alone into one of the most memorable in movie history.

I love this movie so much and the Joe Walsh song fit just right. I don't know if the lyrics fit because I'm not a lyrics person, but the music sounded just right. This movie never gets old. I love the movies that came out between 1979-1984, or so like Warriors, Class of 1984, Nuke 'Em High, the Tromaville movies like Toxic Avenger, and so on. That post apocalyptic look. This movie made James Remar THE coolest guy, forever. Same with Michael Beck. Go Swan, and Ajax !

Just recently found this on Amazon Prime Video and I couldn't resist. It seemed to feed into subsequent films, like "The Road Warrior" and "Escape From New York." The Baseball Furies and the Turnbull ACs still freak me out! A movie of its time, but classically inspired and took some twists that edged towards dark fantasy. An amazing movie! "Warriorrrs...come out to play-yay!"

Right! To FULLY APPRECIATE movies in all its cinematic charm, beauty, creativity, and magic: you NEED to include the full cast & crew credits! So many "movies" today simply cut the viewing experience as soon as the story itself ends and the credits are deleted... especially those shown on you tube.
