The Watchers Movie Review - The Watchers is a new film by Ishana Shyamalan, daughter of M. Night Shyamalan. You can definitely see the resemblance in the film style. Thankfully, she takes the good qualities and not the bad ones. This is a well-made film that's maybe a bit too light on the scares and thrills. Instead, The Watchers focuses on the mystery and not much else. Dakota Fanning is the main protagonist here, putting in a solid but very paired down performance. Not a bad watch but there was something better here.

If The Watchers (2024) consisted of just the first two acts and half of the dialogue was cut out, it would have been a decent horror movie. But man 🤦🏻‍♂️...those lines of dialogue were hard to stomach and the last act was just awful!

I think you are one of the few that seemed to at least like it okay. As you likely know, it is not getting very good reviews at all. I didn't see it yet, but I get the impression critics are being to hard on it. I may end up giving it a see what movie pass, but if I had to flat out pay for it I wouldn't.

I really didn’t think it was as bad as all the reviewers make it out to be. yeah the third act isn’t that great but it’s not horrible either. And then people talk about bad dialogue those are the same Idiots that probably praise avengers endgame with some of the stalest dialogue I’ve ever heard in my life.

Watched the movie today and I wasn‘t scared at all - topic wise I think ‚The Hallow‘ is a much better and scarier horror movie with less plot holes or ‚intended‘ twists and the lore suited better for this horror flick. Or Netflix ‚the Ritual’ did a better job on scary in-the-woods-no-way-out topic with an evil antagonist and the burden of guilt involved. I was confused that in „the watchers“ there was no twisted character dynamics in this situation locked in a rooms for some time and people usually develop a toxic behavior against one another even if they know each other but here they going along better than every other one at a Christmas dinner …

The twin aspect was not utilized. She has a twin. The mirror where she puts her head next to might indicate that her sister is only a copy of her. So, I thought the older lady was her mom. Who watched her using the mirror. So her mom was a watcher, and she and her sister may have been a haflings. The professor was able to get to a village and hire workers that he sacrificed? So wouldn't the professor be able to escape? Maybe the bike was his? Was the initial car trouble caused by the watchers? And yeah, the first thing i would do is either wait for the morning and then go back from where i came or go forward depending on how far it may have been. But never to the woods.

I was thinking about this. The folklore talks about children being replaced with Changelings, and twins being copies of one child. After seeing the movie. Now I am thinking, by the way she behaved as a child, that Dakota may be another Changeling. It would also explain her and Madeline not being attacked in the woods.

rare when I disagree with one of your reviews but its all subjective. I thought the acting was ridiculously bad considering the horrible situation they were in. It just seemed like everyone was chilling, looked well fed and didnt really question much of what was going on. The decisions they made throughout the movie was nonsensical. And the ending was gawd awful.

It's not passable for me. There is no tension or interesting characterization. The visuals are fine but, overall it felt empty. Regardless of the plot, the characters feel dead on arrival. A movie on tranquilizers.

It definitely felt like they were watching random episodes of Lost when putting this together. I can’t tolerate it when characters don’t ask obvious basic questions to their situation that would just be natural for any living person in a different environment. Even If you don’t get answers the audience at least knows where you’re head is at and don’t get completely knocked out of the story because they’re so god damned frustrated they need to walk away. Thats another reason it gave me Lost vibes. The overall film looks good but if you’re over 10 years old I’m sure it’s nothing that new to you. It’s a shame though because I really wanted to like this. I think stories lose their audience when the people they are supposed to empathize with or follow don’t behave like any single person would on the most basic level at least at first. Once you establish that then you can move the character around in the smarter dumber categories. I will say the movie left me wanting to read the book to see if it works better.

The plot is directly ripped off from the television show FROM. When the monsters are vampires, it makes more sense than shape shifters. And it's extremely more scarier than this movie.

Not great. Solid idea squandered in typical Shyamalan fashion. Twists pretty much revealed the second there was any set up and really insulted the audience moving into the third act. I'd recommend bc it was done fine, but if you've seen a lot of horror movies, this is a wasted opportunity with no surprises.

Watching a movie and having made a movie are two different things. It is easier to criticize a movie you have seen than to criticize it from a director's chair. If you sat in the director's chair you have more clout to criticize other people's movies, because you made your own. But if you're just a patron, you have every right to an opinion because you paid to see it, but when you criticize, your opinion is as worth as a fart in the wind.
