You must have never lived in the country nor had a garden. We all share with our neighbors Plus growing watermelons takes up a lot of space. Maybe the mother in law did not plan space for watermelons. Xiaojiu is always sharing what she has with neighbors.

I don’t know what cold sauce is but here in America we make watermelon pickles with the rind. Water, vinegar, sugar and pickling spices. Cook together in glass jars in a water bath. Take the jars out of the canning pot and put them on a towel on a flat surface. When the lid pops they are sealed ready to eat or store. So good! 😊♥️♥️♥️
