Loved this wedding more than any Duggar weddings. It was simple, a small intimate wedding! I have loved all of the weddings down through the years, but this one really tugged at the heart strings! Beautiful!! Great video!!

Yes agreed. Not like those televised ones of the girls of over what like a thousand people. And it was like “Here’s the 1/2 hr ceremony then leave your gift there on your way out kind of thing”. Here they get to see them get married and then continue to celebrate with them after. Soooo much better. I would only want those who truly loved and cared for me sharing my special day.

Ava Cisneros, I understand what you mean! 18 is the age the law recognizes you as a legal adult, and marriage itself requires emotional maturity! Some people mature earlier than others, and Michelle needed her parents' consent, because she was 17 and Jim Bob was 19 when they got married! Justin was 18 and Claire was 19, so they didn't need parental consent! Even in the 21st Century, young marriage is NOT as unusual as we might think!

Like I said for Jeds wedding. Sooo much better then those televised ones of the girls. They had what over a thousand people and it was like Here’s the ceremony, there is where you leave your gift and See ya! Awful. These smaller weddings are a million times better. They actually have the ceremony then celebrate with the ones most important. These two are crazy young and IMO going to be a hard road when the novelty wears off bc at these ages your still finding out who you are so how could you possibly know what you want forever. But they grew up differently so I just send my prayers there way and wish them well.

I read something about some of the Duggar kids knowing their spouses since childhood! Some childhood friends fall in love, get married, and stay together for life, and it's possible Justin and Claire will do that! Michelle was 17 and Jim Bob was 19 when they got married! As for the size of the weddings, I prefer around 100 guests at the most, because it's SO much easier and less expensive!

Reasons for kids not to get married: 1) they will end up wondering if they missed out on someone more compatible 2) they didn't experience independence /develop a career or go to college/weather any trials together 3) they are kids.

Tracey S, it's true they're still "kids," but 18 is the age the law recognizes you as a legal adult! After that, whatever happens next in their lives is up to them! Here are other reasons for kids NOT to get married: 1. Lack of emotional maturity 2. Lack of jobs and enough money to live on 3. Lack of how well they really and truly know each other I personally believe that waiting 6 months to a year is a more acceptable time period, because it gives people a clearer idea on whether or not they're truly compatible with each other, and can grow up together. It's possible for "kids" to get married and do those things, and whether or not Claire and Justin can do that, we'll just have to wait and see!

@@LisaKoffler 1 year is not enough. It took me a couple years at least to find all my husbands flaws and weaknesses...after I married him. And they would have been game changers had I known before marrying him. You need to really know a person's character and those don't all come out until after the honeymoon stage (year 1 or 2 after marriage). I'm going to encourage my daughters to have very long periods of dating, and even living together before marriage.

Tracey S, after what you went through, it's perfectly understandable that you'll encourage your daughters to wait. Hopefully, they won't have to wait TOO long, even if they decide to live together first! "Rushing" is one of the worst mistakes people can make, and actress Jane Seymour's 4th - and final - ex-husband, James Keach was told by her mother: "Jane marries too quickly, but she's not too old to have more children!" They had twin sons.

Looks aren't everything! I'm in my mid-fifties, and I look 20 years younger! I was 17 at my high school graduation in 1985, and I looked 14!

The entire Duggar family (including Josh) was able to attend Justin and Claire's wedding. Even Jill and Derick were there. Not a single adult Duggar kid was missing.
