Another Willy banger, wouldn't expect anything less! Super cool to see this piece of kit finally getting some use, glad it's now in such capable hands. As everyone else has already pointed out the fern pick is fuego!

I like how they thought about the problem, "How can we create a macro system for our range finder cameras", came to the conclusion that it would be impossible to get accurate focus from the range finder and overengineered a solution that also didn't give accurate results.

I applaud your bravery for using a rangefinder to do macro work!

In terms of MF systems that do really well with macro I’d recommend looking at the rollei 6008 as it has dedicated extension tubes bellows and nice Zeiss and Schneider lenses

Hey Will, just to answer your question seeing as I actually have relevant knowledge on this non-photographic topic as a research biologist who has worked with pollinators and primarily wild bees over the last few years. Different bee species will have different preferences but usually it will be wildflowers! If you’re talking honeybees then they like all sorts of flowers as they are much more generalist and it’s also why they are so commonly used as commercial pollinators despite the multitude of issues that can produce. A safe bet though is lavender or sunflowers, those species are very attractive to insect pollinators, hope that helps 😁 anyway great to see you uploading again! I got lucky and snagged one of these kits when I had to replace my beloved 80mm that fell and cracked on set... going to take it for a spin after seeing this!

I own the close focus adapter for the GS645 Pro, and it is also sort of a goofy hot shoe finder with everything being up side down and mirrored, but it works surprisingly well. Reminded me of it.

Very odd/interesting piece of kit. I do believe though I will be sticking with my RB67 and the 140mm Macro lens. I love my rangefinder Canon P and my Fujica GW690 but it would never dream of doing macro with one. Still my favorite set up for macro is the Sigma 180mm Macro lens and one of my EOS camera bodies.

You seem pretty jazzed on how crispy the shots from the 7 are compared to the RB. Is it that much sharper? If so, it seems the 80mm lens for the 7 is just god sent. The RB has to be easier/more accurate to compose macro than what it looked like with that setup for the 7. Anyway, I'm siked on what you got from this test and look forward to more from this setup!

Great to see you back, Will 🌸 Just one Q on the framing, I watched this twice - and was wondering with the framing issue - it looks like the close up bracket sags a lil' bit. Like the angle of your lens is a bit higher than the frame of the adapter while you're shooting, which would be a very simple answer as to why the subjects sit a bit low. What do you think? And would love to see you try this with portraits! Congrats to you, too, on the engagement : )

Nice go over of this funky adaptor. I had seriously considered getting it but thought the whole thing sticking out was a bit too much, haha. I did though get the polarizer filter which has it’s own funky piece that rotates out over the viewfinder. It’s a great polarizer even with needing the big rotating piece. I’ve used it on the 80mm and my other lens the 50mm wide angle.

I thought the Mamiya 6 close up focusing kit is weird, but this is even more ridiculous!
