I think I was aware of “We’re not gonna take it” hearing it on the radio and in commercials, but you can imagine my surprise hearing “I Wanna Rock” years later and realizing Goofy Goober was a cover😂 Years later, it was the same thing finding out the scatting solo is also taken from David Lee Roth’s “Just a Gigolo”. Fun how we rediscover the inspirations to our childhood media years later

I heard it growing up in the 90's. A lot of 80s stuff was still playing. Then I heard it in Vice City. I'm not really a Spongebob Guy, first I'm hearing of the cover. I don't recall seeing the film, I've seen some stuff years ago with my younger cousins though.

Bruh this game is a classic! One of the better movie tie in games in the early 2000s plus it’s basically Battle for bikini bottom with driving. But do remember how hard the back half of the game was as a kid but managed to beat it took like a month but it happened!

To answer the question regarding using a recording of Plankton's VA: Basically recycling material is fought against by the union so that people who do a good job at voice acting don't work themselves out of a job. So if any new dialogue gets recorded for the game, it's all gotta be fresh.

I had a demo disk of this game. It only had 3 levels: The one with the two hillbillies, one with the krabby patty mobile, and the one with Patrick jumping on ice cubes in the void. I didn’t have a lot of games back then so those levels, and also the other games on that disk are seared into my brain.

You do know if you upgrade their normal attacks, Spongebob and Patrick can reflect projectiles right? The spit, the missiles. Any projectile.

The GBA version is pretty good, had it as a kid. It's also pretty hard, I always had issues with the skull level because it was timed and the level with the lights that dry you up, because it was also timed. Took me a bunch of years probably to beat it.

Turns out I was wrong as could be, and there is now the biggest stockpile of new content since I first discovered your channel(s). My depression may have just been cured. I knew this existed but thought it was in the console version, which was the only one I had, as well I recognized a bunch of moments from the pc version in this video but I don't know how because I didn't own the pc version (at least I don't think?) nor did any of my friends as well I wasn't into KZfaq at the time nor do I think gaming videos were even a thing at that point... 🤔

I played the game on my GameCube NONSTOP along with Battle for Bikini Bottom when I had my tonsils removed as a kid. I always had a connection with it, even if the blockage of progressing really bugged me because I just wanted to continue, and the time and ring challenges? Don't even get me started. The platforming levels though, I adored. Upgrading an ability was so rewarding. I unfortunately never finished this game, I only made it to Shell City, Dead Ahead and got stuck, and I don't even think I own it anymore, but both of those SpongeBob games were my happiness when I was in severe pain. The Gameboy version I still have paired with SpongeBob SuperSponge, but ugh I hate the password system. And for that I've never beaten that version, farthest I might have gotten was the third world if I was feeling it.

When I was a kid, I found a double pack of this and BFBB at Gamestop. I liked both just fine, but this one was weirdly my favorite of the two. I think I even got 100% of the extras at some point, but no way I got all the Goofy Goober Tokens. I couldn't get through the Manly Time Trial stages to save my life. Heck, maybe I should try to find this game for myself again sometime. See how it holds up almost two decades later.

actually due to the fact this game was rushed before the movie was released within a year, some things in the game werent the final version, like the goofy goober section was supposed to be in the movie as a dream section but was cut, David Hasselhoff didnt join the movie til the last moment either, also the cutscenes go from actual still frams from the final movie, to storyboard drawings, to ms paint

The Xbox version has most of the same levels and models, but the controls were much more fluent. It's as if the PlayStation version was ported from the Xbox with little fine tuning. Either that or it was improved on Xbox. (Dunno the release timing) The only things I really hated about the game were the driving stages, and the design of the void stages that made you feel like you're about to vomit.

When I was a kid I actually played the first point and click SpongeBob game "Employee of the Month" I genuinely love the game although comparing it to the movie game it definitely looks a lot weirder. That one and Truth or Square were my only two SpongeBob games and I have lots of fond memories of both.

I cant believe you didn't like the driving segments, or getting the tokens. Those were some of my favorite things to do in this game. They add so much replay value. Also, im surprised someone got stuck on the button thing in the level with all the big TVs. I thought it was always obvious. Lol I disagree _heavily_ with some of your points, but like Creature From the Krusty Krab, I absolutely adore this game. Its my second favorite SpongeBob game, and was the first SpongeBob game I ever played.

One thing I dislike about the ps2 version was the lack of translations. It was completely in english, which made no sense since all other spongebob games anf the movie were available in german. So I didn't understand a single word when I played this is as an 8 year old lol

Well, almost all the mechanics of the movie game comes straight from battle of bikini bottom. So I had an easier time because BOBB taught me all the mechanics used in this game. Maybe this game expected you to have played that game first

Ok, yes the graphics for the PC version of the spongebob movie are bad; but I absolutely love it regardless. Of course, it's only natural that I would; given my love for point and click adventure games

I actually had the PS2 version when I was a kid, and I was OBSESSED with it! Sadly, it was far too difficult and my parents had to help me complete a lot of levels. I never actually got to finish the game since my disk broke, and along with It, my heart. 💔

I don’t care what y’all say, I had this game, and it went HARD. We played it so much the disc actually has scratches/ingrains from the laser. The platforming weird blue areas were so weird.
