On February 7, 1913, 109 years ago today, coal mine owner Quin Morton boarded his private train, along with private mine guards, and rolled through a tent colony filled with striking miners and their families, shooting them as they passed. This was one of the earliest incidents in what came to be known as the West Virginia mine wars.
