"The Whistling Bird," a second season episode of SUPERMAN, is often overlooked, but it gives us plenty to like. Sterling Holloway is back as Uncle Oscar... and this time he's accompanied by his niece, Nancy, played by Allene Roberts. Jack Larson often told me that he liked working with Holloway and that the veteran actor gave him pointers that improved his performances. There is also an evident fondness between Allene Roberts and Jack Larson... though it is more clearly seen in other segments of the episode. This was Allene's third appearance on Superman having previously played Alice in "The Haunted Lighthouse" and Maria Moleska in "The Monkey Mystery," both first season episodes. I also like the nighttime flying scene seen in this clip.
