I watched this whole movie. A true story that should be told, retold, and told again.

These young people only had to wait out the war, but they didn't, instead they stepped up with great courage and sacrificed their lives. They upheld the honor of the German people, when so many others dishonored it. May they always be remembered.

Never heard about this. So much of history is not taught in schools even here in America. You get a watered down version so as not to offend anyone. My dad fought in World War II and I am so proud d of him and the greatest generation. My love of history came later in my life, I am 58 and am learning so much. Thank you so mush.

There are some films on KZfaq that might interest you on this subject - The Final Days - This is about Sophie Scholl and the White Rose. Carve her Name with Pride - This centres around Violette Szabo, who was recruited by SOE and after training was dropped into occupied France. Courageous Heart of Irene Sendler - This lady was a Polish social worker and she smuggled many Jewish children to safety from the Warsaw Ghetto. I agree they were a fine generation; and I like you am very proud of my quiet unassuming Father who was a Medical Officer as part of the 14th Army in Burma.

Sad that I'm just finding out about these brave young souls, I just saw the movie and it brought me to tears. You know, it's easy to say those who didn't come out in resistance are cowards but how many of us would pass this moral test. I imagine my self in their shoes and it scares the living crap out of me, I pray that I'm never put through such a test, but it's people like them, their courage who make it less likely that we would face such horrid circumstances. I like to think of them as true guardians of the oppress. Thank you cbutchko for this tour! Much love from El Paso Texas USA

There was a saying in Germany at that time"if you're tired of living, go against the Nazis."

It is quite incredible that no one seemed struck by the extreme youth of Sophie and Hans Scholl. The Nazi regime was indeed heartless and cold. This barbarity by the Nazis actually magnifies the courage of the members of the White Rose movement. May they all rest in peace.

This guy is right on the button with this and the video is very interesting and very moving, these were all so young with their lives ahead of them and they selflessly gave them for their beliefs and country. Freisler was simply a rabid dog, unfit to ever be a member of the human race like so many others of this ilk. Incredibly, the Scholl parents and others were further ostracised by their own countrymen and women and virtually, financially ruined. Compare this to the treatment of Frau. Reisler who was paid a handsome State Pension with regular generous increments as her wretched husband was deemed a victim of the war even though he was simply blown-up in an allied air raid. I look forward to other videos.

Roland Freisler, the judge and the person that sentenced them to death, was ironically killed in the very same building that Sophie's case was held. He was killed during allied air bombing, by falling masonry from partial collapse of the building.
