Lyrics:
Ah, icky thump
Who'da thunk?
Sitting drunk on a wagon to Mexico
Ahh well
What a chump
Well my head got a bump
When I hit it on the radio
Redhead señorita
Looking dead
Came and said
Need a bed
In Español
I said
Gimme a drink of water
I'm gonna sing around the collar
And I don't need a microphone
Icky Thump
With a lump in my throat
Grabbed my coat
And I was freaking
I was ready to go!
And I swear
Besides the hair
She had one white eye
One blank stare
Looking up
Lying there
On the stand
Near her hand
Was a candy cane
Black rum, sugar cane
Dry ice and something strange
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
White Americans, what
Nothing better to do
Why don't you kick yourself out
You're an immigrant too
Who's using who
What should we do?
Well, you can't be a pimp
And a prostitute too
Icky thump
Handcuffed to a bunk
Robbed blind
Looked around
And there was nobody else
Left alone
I hit myself with a stone
Went home and learned how
To clean up after myself

I've never heard Meg described as a "fantastic drummer". Jack wasn't looking for a fantastic drummer. He just needed her to play the simple beats he showed her. Actually Jack really is a fantastic drummer. Listen to some of his The Dead Weather stuff where he plays drums. Jack taught her what to play because he knew that if he went and found a drummer that no one would want to play the simple beats that he was after. (The whole look at me, look at me thing) From what I understand, she never really took to the musician lifestyle and that's why she ended up quitting.

@nabs7741
@nabs7741 3 жыл бұрын
Oh no, you have no idea what's about to happen in the next few months. Your whole perception of music is about to change. I was literally in your exact same position at one point. Into Heavy Metal, Thrash, Groove, basically a whole bunch of heavy music. And then I found Jack White. I say that because I actually found him through his solo work, unlike most that find TWS first. I know all that sounds like crazy talk, but you'll understand. Anyways, to answer your question. I recommend listening to TWS live stuff. Their live shows were absolutely insane. I have a few videos I'll link, but you said you wanted albums. So to answer your question, I recommend the first two WS albums. The White Stripes and De Stijl, specifically De Stijl. De Stijl is an absolute masterpiece of an album. As for Jack White's solo stuff, Boarding House Reach is incredible. It's way more experimental than anything he's ever done before. You honestly might not like it on your first listen. But, you'll soon realize the album is a chaotic whirlwind of creativity. I genuinely think Boarding House Reach is in the top 100(at least) albums of all time. Here are some standout WS performances: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rbaSqcmVy9XJYI0.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ndldeMKhu7qokYU.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rpeZacuIytW7h4k.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/or2ipdto2rfKg2Q.html

Look up "Check the rhyme", it actually is really intriguing to see rap color coded for all the little internal rhymes. Modern rappers like Earl Sweatshirt, Kendrick Lamar, or Tyler the Creator all have really well built rhyme schemes. If you don't enjoy listening to it that's fine but you really shouldn't generalize "rap" as rappers who exclusively make music for kids to fortnite dance to.
