"See me, Feel Me" is a song from The Who's 1969 album Tommy. It consists of two overture parts from Tommy: "See me, Feel me" and "Listening to you". It was released as a single in September 1970.
"See Me, Feel Me", followed by the refrain of "Listening To You", was performed at the 1969 Woodstock Festival. This was captured on film in The Kids Are Alright and Woodstock. "See Me, Feel Me" was also released as a single in the United States to capitalise on its appearance in the Woodstock film.[1] Entering the charts on 23 September 1970, it reached number twelve on the Pop Singles Chart.[2] It was also released in the United Kingdom but did not chart there. The band performed this song at the Closing Ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London on Sunday 13 August 2012, along with 'Baba O'Riley' and 'My Generation'.

Pete tuned into the excitement of being a spiritual being, my favorite Who song, never gets old. “Music is a plane of wisdom, because music is a universal language, it is a language of honor, it is a noble precept, a gift of the Airy Kingdom, music is air, a universal existence common to all the living.” -- Sun Ra

I get the impression from this film, that the story was all about a young boy being brought up & being subjected as a 'blind follower' to many influences, paths & false idols. Whether it be, his martyred father in the air force, his 'uncles Frank & Ernie', the idolatry of Marilyn Monroe in a pseudo-church cult, the Acid Queen & later with himself as a self-professed messiah, of pinball games, before finally finding God. And the lyrics to "See Me, Feel Me/Listening to You" sound like a Christian worship song... a very powerful prayer/love song to God.

I play guitar and piano - Beatles, Kinks - up to Tori Amos (my fave) and many modern punk, indie and rock bands (Metallica was the first on guitar). This has to be the most emotive - oh yeah - Cumbria - the Lake District (Beatrix Potter being here, with her work ...admittedly good - didn't do it for me. This....well, I watched it....thought "I love The Who" - now..Kerist - I'm into scrambles and I know where Roger was fom Buttermere up to Haystacks - I'll be recreating that (not bare-chested..well, probs not, it'd be deleted!!!)

what an extraordinary piece of musical comedy ! it's amazing. The story of Tommy is incredible; Yet Roger Daltrey is playing like a hero in it. He looked like a Greek God. What a beauty he was and what an actor. I think it is one of best musical films I have ever seen . Far far beyond the Rolling Stones or the Beatles. This group The "Who" was brilliant.

Way back in High School we did Tommy in music class. How it changed music. How The Who changed music from just a 3 minute song into what is now called 'A Rock Opera'. And we got to go see the film on the big screen as a School excursion to feel and experience what a Rock Opera really is. Having seen it left me with feelings I can't put words to, The Who did it for me. See me, Feel me, Touch me, Heal me.

@@sikujacob4556 God is clearly out of the question. Tommy really speaks about the rebirth one one's individual after ordeals, which is obviously reflecting Jesus destiny. The first part of the movie adresses his rebirth after his childhood traumas, and the second part focuses on its rebirth after becoming a cult leader, which ends up by him stripped from fame and money, climbing the mountain we see in this scene to find the truth about himself. It's unclear wether Tommy goes back to a peaceful inner world just like when he was blind, deaf and mute, or if it's a brand new life.

The choirs here mimics religious followers of messiahs, I'm not sure it's part of the religion critique from Ken Russell, or a true recognitiotion of the inspiration one can draw from few "bigger than life" characters. I think the line is voluntarily blurred. But God is definitely not the topic here.

A lot of Who purists don't like the movie musical because of the change in tempo on many of the songs. Personally, I like both the album and the movie. Plus, I feel the updated (faster) versions have more of a punch to them...like this song. I think that it's okay to like both, because it was their vision and direction.

I too like both versions. Saw thus movie in 1975, and loved the sound track. It was in QUADROPHONIC SOUND, and was awesome. I have the album, and a CD. But both lack the last track with the credits, which is disappointing, good to see and hear it here. A WHO fan since 1964.

I like both versions. I had access to the album when I was a young teen and in Australia anyway, the album cover opened up to be a pinball machine. I should of kept it.

According to my deep knowledge of the Lakes: although Roger Dalty is seen scaling High Scale by the Warnscale Beck route, rather curiously his celestial powers ensure that he summits at Castlerigg behind Ashness Bridge - some 10km away but with a good viewpoint of Derwent water and excellend roadside access for 'towny' film crew.

To me , this version of the song is the definitive one , as you would hav originally heard it at a cinema in 1975 : 35mm film , and 4 track magnetic sound. I echo all the positive comments (16 negative ones ? ? ?) While i initially found the film outrageous in parts , i loved the opening and closing scenes in the Lake District. This dramatic contrast really worked for me,and was a fitting complement (spelt with an "e") to the rest of the film. See below - Tracyconly , yes : that is the effect this scene can have -it was also effective to hav the song playing a second time. Hoower Gontijo , i agree wholeheartedly!
