When it's hot, it's hot in any clothes. Especially now, when all fabrics contain synthetics. The body doesn’t breathe, the sweat is pouring in, but you want comfort.
Even flax is not the same anymore, we don’t have real flax in our city, it has impurities everywhere. Previously, they sold Belarusian flax, which is of excellent quality.
But you can still find good natural fabrics, one of which is staple. Despite the fact that the weave of the threads in the fabric is dense, the fabric itself is thin, drapes well, has excellent breathability and gives a feeling of coolness in hot weather. The colors are bright and do not fade in the sun.
I recently sewed a skirt from staples, and now I’ll sew a short blouse from the rest. The main emphasis is on the ties, which will be opposite the slit on the skirt. I would like the sleeve to be small, just to cover the shoulders. I searched in Burda and found a suitable pattern.
I really liked the small sleeve, which only has the upper part, like a wing without gathering. It definitely won't be hot with this one.
I sewed ties, which I sewed into the darts on the front at the waist.
Then I stitched the side and shoulder seams. But after trying it on, I didn’t like that the blouse was very narrow. I ripped the darts apart and simply sewed on the ties. When you tie them, they pull the blouse together instead of darts.
To finish the neckline, I cut out a facing, which I reinforced with non-woven fabric. But before sewing it on, I laid a stabilizing stitch along the neck line. This is to ensure that the neck does not stretch during use.
I first hemmed the sleeves and then basted them to the blouse. Here you need to combine the center and the armhole points where the sleeves begin and end. As a result, the shoulders will be closed, and where the armpits are, the armhole will be open as if it were a sleeveless vest.
I hemmed the blouse 1 cm from the edge.
The style turned out to be such that the back of the blouse is lowered, and the front front is raised. But still 5 cm below the waist. Thanks to this cut, air penetrates from below into the inside of the blouse and it is cool inside.
Now I have a summer suit that took 1.5 meters of fabric. Everything was gone down to the centimeter, only very small pieces remained.
