The Rev did a Ramones cover so I drunkenly jumped on stage to sing along. I was carried out. My buddy followed me out and we switched shirts. I snuck right back in. 😅

I just saw him a few weeks ago, and they're still kicking ass!
@BigSmiley0TV22 күн бұрын
I can attest to that, as i just recently saw them as well, and though was quite as crazy as when i saw them a decade ago, it was still a most fantastic show

Jim Heath is from my home town of Corpus Christi Texas. I’ve seen him here many times. From 1990 on. There was a house party at my friends they attended after a show in the early 90’s and we all may have had too good of a time. 😅 Great guys and one hell of a band. I’ll go see them anywhere anytime.
@loki3292Ай бұрын
I got to see them 20 years ago. At the time, I only had ever heard "Bales of Cocaine" and "Do it one time"... probably one of the best shows I've ever seen.
@LionAndALambАй бұрын
I must have seen them 2 dozen times between Memphis, New Olreans and Chicago in the late 80s-early 90s, you are very correct to point out that those guys WORKED the road. Last of a dying breed.

He is insanely good at playing guitar.
@aaronbickford8725Ай бұрын
This is true.
@Titant222 күн бұрын
He's an excellent guitar player, his style is intentionally kindof sloppy in a nonchalant cool type of way. It's really something special and it's totally a good thing. Love it.
@aaronbickford872518 күн бұрын
@@Titant2Okay, ssssooooo, I admittedly never attended the Yngwie Malmsteen school of shredding, but I’m having a hard time seeing the Rev’s playing as “sloppy in a nonchalant sort of way”…mind elaborating on what you mean? I mean, to me, Keith Richards is the king of “sloppy in a nonchalant sort of way” (maybe add in a percussive flair to that as well). And him and the Rev are in different guitar playing galaxies, as far as I’m concerned.
@Titant218 күн бұрын
@@aaronbickford8725 Perhaps it's more of a ear of the beholder comment. I think my choice of words was kindof shit. But what i mean maybe is that there is a bit of punk in there. And the fact it's not Yngwie Malmsteen playing is something I appreciate. What i essentially try to say, I love the Rev's guitar playing style and rythm wise, i haven't heard anything like it before. That's when i found out about this band i really started digging them. He sometimes just slightly leaves the rythm section sometimes in his songwriting and then picks up the pattern in an unexpected way. It's intentional, it totally works. So the best thing i could do was describe it as sloppy and nonchalant, but in a really cool intentional way. Especially in live recordings. But make no mistake, i think this band is fuckin great, glad i've found them.

@@Titant2 Yeah you’re certainly not imagining the punk element…the tempo alone for most of their songs supports that argument…and the time they came out in and their approach…it was, I wouldn’t say unique, but I would definitely say rare. But his style without doubt takes influences from old rockabilly, country, and 1950s rock and roll…just add some amphetamine-style speed on top of it….Ive loved them since I first heard them in the early 90s…and the friend that let me borrow their CD was obsessed with a lot of what was considered then to be newer punk - bands like NOFX, Bad Religion (who at that point had already been around for some time but were really starting to hit their creative stride, IMO), Fugazi (the first show I ever saw, which was nothing short of amazing), Lagwagon, Pennywise, and some of the old Green Day albums, the list goes on. The Rev was so different from those bands in so many ways, yet could play a show that to me was just as exciting and just as fun and they had no problem fitting right in. Long live Jim Heath and his rockabilly mojo!

the cool thing about RHH, besides RHH, is the fact that they give other unknown bands exposure. not in just N America, but globally.

This is such a badass channel! I front for a rockabilly cowpunk band outta Texas and have been able to open for The Rev a few times now! Keep spreading the gospel of good music my man!!!!

And they continue to reach new, young audiences. It's remarkable that trends in music and fashions for young, musically passionate people come and go, but rockabilly, the sound, and the look that goes with it, never really ever goes out of style.

Man or Astroman....I saw them and Reverend Horton Heat for the first time at the same place. Young Ave Deli in Midtown Memphis. Late 90's. Magical. Seen RRH more times than my battered brain can remember. But Man or Astroman, just twice. Literally the best live show experience I've ever had. Always hoped they would start touring again

I met Jim back in the 90s…I ran into him and his girlfriend at a sports store in Dallas. He was super cool. I saw them several times back in those days and every single time, they played a great, high-energy show that was certainly the highlight of the evening. Thanks for the music, Rev!

I've seen the Rev headline a rockabilly revival show in Austin and in hole in the wall bars a few times. Got to talk to him and Jimbo near Deerpark. So cool and down to earth. Amazing shows! Go see them if you can, they're "always on the road"

Anyone that loves the Reverend s music and has never seen them in the movie" love and a 45" has completely missed the boat. Really got to see them live to appreciate them though. It's a great novelty act and they tear down the House in a small venue.

The first time that I saw the Rev he was opening up for Soundgarden. This was when the band was with SubPop. That was a great night. I was 16 and had never seen a stand up bass at a live show. Jimbo was dripping sweat and Jim was shredding.
