The frequently-used film sound effect first used in 1951 for the film Distant Drums. The Wilhelm scream is often used when someone is either falling from great height or shot, and has become a well-known cinematic sound cliché, and is claimed to have been used in over 149 films.

I work at a movie theater and I swear they used this goddamn scream in a corporate training video on what to do doing an "Active Shooter" event. I'm not joking. It totally broke the mood of the video and made it almost impossible to take it seriously.

Khamauri.TGaming/ Ktg Tv It was used in an active-shooter training video (for what to do if a shooter storms the building) and it was put in when someone got shot. It was a fairly tense video until this scream popped up, then everyone started giggling because it's usually an inside-joke for filmmakers to use this scream. So it just made it unintentionally funny,

I propose a movie be made using this sound effect for every single scream, oh and it should be a horror movie about a group of generic teenagers in a generic horror movie setting with a generic horror movie scenario. We've all seen movies like that and we all know how often the characters scream. Now imagine that kind of movie with Wilhelm screams: Every. Single. Time.

The Wilhelm Scream was not first used in 1951, it came from the movie The Charge at Feather River in 1953. The character who first screamed the Wilhelm Scream was named Wilhelm.

Did you know? In Team Fortress 2, there was originally a civilian class, which uses the same model as the scout. It had several different screams hidden in the game's files and was originally used for all classes before they were given their own unique voices. This was one of the screams used for the civilian.
