I will never understand how this film wasn't nominated for an Oscar for best cinematography because it was amazing! Daniel also deserved a nomination for his portrayal of Lauda
@Alex-cb1id6 жыл бұрын
I can't even understand it either. Usually only films that also have a certain cultural depth win the Oscar, but, after the victory of "The Lord of the Rings" with hobbits. elves & co, it's not like that anymore. So Rush could easily win some Oscars. At least one Oscar for Bruhl for Lauda's performance and one Oscar for the sets. However the Oscar is assigned by an elite of 70 - 80 people who represent only themselves. I have learned to ignore those who win the Oscar.

I have watched these two men for a very long time in their careers, its almost like comparing the 1972 hockey game finals between Russia and Canada. Each of the teams hold on to the victory as if it happened yesterday. The passion and the balls to drive as if it were their last day on earth was inspiring to say the least. Whatever your back ground one has to admire the intense respect that these two men had for each other in their early 20's. Hell, ask yourself what you were doing at 22 yrs.old? I still race to this day at 47 I'm a old man but I am still very tame compared to most. I loved the movie Rush! everything was so focused on the rivalry, that all the details were secondary... great film ....

A lot of comparisons get made of "Rush" to the 1966 classic "Grand Prix" which is honestly not fair to both... They are the same sport of basically almost two generations of F1 that almost cross, but you can't compare the two as one was produced and shot in the era that was the 60s... As the other is a modern film set in the 70s. And, with the help of modern computer toys... Ron pulled "Rush" off very well especially since he didn't soley rely on CGI for the race scenes and somehow got the original cars which alone helps add to its authenticity. "Rush" told a true story very well, while "Grand Prix" told a good story period. Both are great, but it's not fair to compare the two.

F1 racing got nearly zero coverage in North America during the 60's 70's 80's etc, because the people in charge of Television Network sports were and still are a bunch of EMPTY-HEADED JACKASSES who think silly contrived games played with balls of various sizes is about as exciting as it gets. We got the Indy 500 and Daytona 500 yearly and that was about it for televised Auto Racing.(Watkins Glen GP was ignored annually) I think the America networks ABC, NBC and the lowly CBS ignored real road racing because it made American Oval races seem excruciatingly boring in comparison to Road Racing, which of course it is. ... a race where there are only banked left-hand turns is easy compared with Grand Prix...that's why Jim Clark and Lotus Won so easily in 1967. 'Pikes Peak'...Great Stuff... but never televised as far as I know.

Superb movie the only reason it did not get 3 Oscars(acting,music,photography) is because of the lack of F1 knowledge in the USA. Hamilton movie will be made for sure once he ends his career, apart from the driving and his childhood poverty the racism he has endured has shocked me, he must be the only British sportsman that the public has not got behind when he has been successful. When you ask why it's always "I don't like his personality" and when you ask for specifics there never are any. Hamilton's treatment by some of the public are one of the few times I have ever been ashamed to be British.
