When Dennis came out with his solo album I was in the back of the crowd at Tower Records, he managed to get me to the front. when you are "mentally", and physically abused from a young age, it robs you of your childhood innocence. You grow up faster and with a "childs eyes", start to see the world through a more advanced "adults eyes". Whether you want to or not, you are forced through trauma to "grow up" faster, and because you are no longer innocent, you are made fully aware, and more mature. When ever I see a child that seems to mature for his age, I always wonder why. Is abuse always the reason for this? That's really sad. There is lots of great music out there. You have to make a point of trying out new music because there's always some band that will grow on you. Most of my music listening is The Beach Boys and The Beatles however I listen to other stuff and enjoy it also lots of classical music that is incredible.

I assume most of you watching this already know, but just in case.... Barenaked Ladies have a song called "Brian Wilson". It's not only a great, great song, but from everything I know it's also historically accurate.

The bio pic “Love And Mercy” was very good….I’ve seen/heard a lot of docs about The Beach Boys and Brian……their father was a POS and the psychiatrist was a POS! If I were ever to be fortunate enough to meet Brian, I would give him a hug, if he was open to it, and thank him for all his contributions to music, and hence, society as a whole….and to the soundtrack of my life!

@@notbraindead7298 I read hints about Murray Wilson,s behavior in the 80s but it was only years later when I read Brian's bio that I realized how bad it was-he really was a sadist,what was then seen as parental discipline would now be called child abuse,no wonder his son's turned out the way they did!

The "Today" album was great on so many levels. Brian was really soaring in his talent, this album came out during the hit making years (and qualitative album output). Their harmonies were perfect. Brian was also ably assisted by the group of great studio musicians known as "The Wrecking Crew" at this time.

I think Brian was the lone genius of his creations, whereas Lennon and McCartney worked together plus had input from George Martin.
@you_tubeslonelyheartsclubband2 жыл бұрын
@@notbraindead7298 I get your point, but Lennon and McCartney did write their own songs (really complex too! Songs like It Won't Be Long, Girl, and I'm Only Sleeping by John and All My Loving, Michelle, and Penny Lane). So it's not like they were completely dependent on each other.

Brian is deaf in one of his ears thanks to his Dear Old Dad who used his head for a punching bag. Murray Wilson had an evil mean streak in him. He wore a pair of horns. Even though he hid them well they were there.

Brian sang and sings about things he felt and feels and wrote about things he felt and feels. He feels those things so intensely, it seems to me, that it's like when I'm swimming underwater. I can't get away from being surrounded by water, while I'm in it. Imagine not being able to get out of the water. I never met the Wilsons and it still makes me sad that Dennis and Carl are gone.
