I KNOW! Animus magic doesn't just make you insane. It's the possibilities. You can do absolutely anything and just snap! delete the consequences. Who cares if you hurt someone's feelings? Like I know it's most likely a mistake on Tui's part I just like thinking into it more as if it weren't a mistake for the fun what if. That and if many seawings have the gene for blue blood they could possibly have offspring with that trait even though they themselves didn't have it appear.

There are a lot of foods in this series that seem like they don’t fit in the timeline/area. Coffee is something that’s been mentioned twice in the series, and so is chocolate. And I think the reason why everyone hates Whirlpool for that reason on top of others (at least, why I do), is because it’s not any better that it’s in history, I mean, we wouldn’t want inbreeding ether. Also, look at how split the community is at the whole Glorybringer thing… and then look at the whole Whirlpool thing, and the fact that it is something that one dragon severely dislikes, and the other only does for power. This somehow went from a little comment about WoF foods to a semi-rant about how everybody hates Whirlpool lol. Also, does anyone remember when pomegranates were mentioned that once in Darkstalker? In that one scene where Clearsight is waiting to meet Darkstalker under the tree (oh, great, now I’m just thinking of under the sea). Or that one time Blue smelled like fried bananas?

It's mentioned that RainWings like to cultivate exotic fruits, and in Darkstalker he talks about buying fruit from them, it seemed like they had merchants that sold fruit to the other tribes. Sugar is a little stranger, but it's not that unlikely they grew sugarcane or learned to cook more complicated recipies. Different tribes seem to have different levels of food prep. MudWings and SkyWings seem to just cook their food, it seems IceWings might plate things nicely, but just sliced meat. SeaWings and SandWings seem to have more complex cuisine, and rhe NightWings used to

The only thing you have to worry about is the occasional untagged fanfic, which is thankfully rare since AO3 culture is big on accurate tagging. If you’re anything like me before reading Darkstalker legends (at the time I had finished the series and was watching YT. The whole series was up to book 13 at the time), I saw a LOT of Darkstalker legends spoilers but couldn’t make sense of pretty much any of them lol.

If you reread the scene where Fathom has his first animus lesson, Albatross mimics his sisters' teasing and it includes making fun of his "tiny teeth, oddly-colored scales, and inability to swim well". His *pale blue-gray* scales at least hint he's an Ice-Sea hybrid leaning more on Sunny and Darkstalker's end of hybridization, where they just have one or two weird things about them and that's it.

Been dead. Killed them when i first picked up the books as a teenager. Look up "Death of the Author" theory for literary analysis, it's why I don't believe for a second that Peacekeeper will never learn of his past life or that Rainwings can change their iris colors.

Albatross probably got his magic due to being part icewing, which also explains the unusual features he is described to have in the books. Animus magic most likely originated from the icewings, therefore all animus dragons are likely related

He was told in the books that he was teased by his sisters about his features, and having light, almost white colors is very rare in a tribe with mostly dark blues, green, purples, and even rarely pinks or yellows. I think at the time(if not still present time to book 15) the Ice-wings and the Sea-wings were allies, or to rephrase it better, friend tribes, as they seemed to show the most relation and the least arguing, wars, and hatred in each other(not counting the Sand-wing succession, that’s basically a world war in itself) so I get why Sea-Ice hybrids are most common in the series, hence there being Albatross and Typhoon both being the same hybrids.

Its also that Albatross is mentioned to have a wife and be the one to have passed the animus gene, and his deformities were a but more Icewing hybrid like. Also Icewings and Seawings both have the same procedure for finding animus, so it would seem as if they wouldn’t have that much beef.
