This show is so good it made me teary eyed watching it and hearing the awesome sounds again. I had these songs on my ipod shuffle stick when i was young and was watching tonami every night.

A straight translation may not have fit with the music. He was likely faced with either butchering the song or rewriting the whole thing and decided the rewrite would make a better product. We may never know, but still, its not like the end product is bad.

Why not talking about "I've gotta cry like a wanted eagle"? Does the lyric which was sang by Miki Matsuhara suck too much for Americans? It seems a love song, this one. Different from Miki's version which is talking about the feeling of a soldier.

I strongly prefer the original over this cover.

why dont you ask miki matsuhara why she did an english version of "men of destiny" and changed the words totally ? at least this version still has the chorus intact ( somewhat )

Kotzen did his own version. Why do a direct copy of the original? It's not that the lyrics aren't good enough. Being different is what makes musicians unique.
