I am slavic (polish precisely). My mother used to tell me and read to me all these old scary slavic tales when I was a kid. When I first heard this song while playing witcher I immediately went back in time and remembered all the stories and felt a little shiver. This music fits the "Ladies of the woods" story perfectly. And witcher perfectly depicts slavic mythology just how I imagined it as a kid (or even scarier sometimes). Truly a work of art, masterpiece, game of the century.

I love the fact they used real folklore and mythology, because it gave backgrounds to the enemies. Drowners were people who jumped into rivers and lakes to commit suicide. @jimmyrussells83094 жыл бұрын
@@donmaciaso_ You can just as easily argue that they're based on the three sisters archetype found in indo-european mythology. People only think it's slavic because the witcher was written by a Polish author who oddly enough, scoffed at the idea of it being based on slavic culture to begin with citing it as being based off of Arthurian tales.
@donmaciaso_4 жыл бұрын
@@jimmyrussells8309 man, how short-minded do you have to be to say that ladies of the woods are based on indo-european mythology? people think it's slavic, because the MOST monsters are based on slavic mythology, including leshens, drowners, ghouls, ghosts or water hags. witcher universe presents many cultures, eg. zerrikania is a refference of africa, which was hard to get to, but was also unique. skellige is a reference of vikings culture or scandinavia. velen, most of the novigrad outskirts are based on slav countries, like ukraine or poland.

When i finished this quest, i was kind of terrified, because i remembered, that my grandfather once told me a story about a entity called Kornmuhme (Grain Crone), which is said to be living in the fields. It appears as fog or wind or as old ugly lady. She is said to have a taste for children picking Cornflowers. And she cuts of the ears of her victims, a bit like the crones in the witcher. To prevent her from eating humans, my grandfather and his older brothers always strew little parts of the harvested grains over the fields. Really like the witcher 3 for it gives european mythology such a stunnig stage!

The Ladies. What an amazing, intimidating trio of villains that steal the show in every scene they appear in with their creepy presence and add so much to the lore of the game. I sure am glad they didn't get killed off-screen with no effort or any dumb shit like that.
@user-qm9ql9ho2w4 жыл бұрын
Feel sad that their boss fight wasn't something special at all. Just foglet and grave/water hags. I anticipated them use cunning and magic, illusions and environment (living roots of corrupted holy oak soaked in human blood) against you. If anything they weren't supposed to be generic melee fighting monsters. Still best videogame i ever played. ;)
@Gelato41_3 жыл бұрын
Павел Панаев do u have amnesia because that fight wasn’t “special” per say but it wasn’t generic, u fight the 3 witches and one of them survives barely

The Ladies of the Wood are probably one of the things that scared me most in the game but also I can’t help but be fascinated by them. Their role as characters in the story and their dealings with local towns offscreen their vibe is unsettling and intriguing, not to mention their character designs are all so distinct and unique.

I swear the witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time, and i doubt any other could replace it, not that i'm bringing down other games, I just love the witcher 3, i mean simply the fact that every seemingly unimportant sidequest has voice overs is amazing to me, then there are all the different characters, some you relate to, some you may hate, for some you may cry, and also the story, it's just a game that will always stay in your heart.

You see they crows and think "nothing has anything on this" Then see higher vampires (blood and wine) and realise that they are not only more powerful and creepy but they are the true masters of the world of witcher.
@GentlemanBystander8 жыл бұрын
I still found the Crones infinitely more ominous because they weren't beings that could be rationalized away, were they once women? What pact did they make with what forces to become that way? What made them so singularly different? What metaphysical realm beyond the span of the sciences as they were understood in the game did they tap into? What was or is their motives? The Vampires are on cruise control, they exist to exist, the Crones have some agenda, some drive, and not knowing what it is or understanding why is the scariest thing about them to me.

This theme is already eerie without context and gives me a feeling of uneasiness. But when confronted with the crones it just amps up ten times, especially when you meet them first time. You don't know who they are, they seem ancient and powerful and their design is creepy, you feel powerless and uneasy in their presence, all you think about is to not fuck up or you're done for.
