I just finished painting all my miniatures for the base game, the Kickstarter expansion and the Legendary Hunt. I’m very pleased with this game,so it had me painting miniatures again for the first time in over 20 years back when I played Warhammer Fantasy Battle.

COMPONENTS - No complaints, except that as someone who doesn't love minis I wish there weren't so many huge ones in the expansion! I am a big Witcher fan, so I backed on KS and got everything except the sea faring expansion, forget the name. WOW. I agree with your review 100%. I could have written it for you. He He One thing I’ll add - I do feel a lot like a Witcher while playing the game.

I agree the theme is communicated well. Fun adventures/encounters, big monster fights, world weary sarcasm... fun :)

The retail version is a complete ripp-off, almost criminal. You miss out on the Adventure Pack, the Monster Trail and the Wild Hunt (plus Ciri as playablecharacter). The Adventure Pack alone is 250 cards of extra content.

Before I knew about all the expansions I was pretty pleased with the core box. But yeah, once I learned about the rest it’s so much content!

As someone that owns the KS expansions, I agree with you. The retail price for the core box is very high for what you get. Especially for half baked solo mode it comes with.

I played 3 player with Mike, and I agree with his points. Didn't care for the downtime at 3 players, and the luck elements with gambling was miserable if you rolled poorly.

We already house ruled that you can opt to pass on the quest phase and just add a gold coin to your treasury. Obviously, quests can potentially bring you greater rewards, but if gold is your main concern, it helps mitigate the swingy poker. Also, the game can potentially move a bit faster.

I had similar situation to yours. Typical kickstarter bloat, cut the content out as stretch goals/expansions. My problem was all the cut content sold as "expansions", basically without Legendary hunt (true solo mod) and Wild hunt (coop) its kinda boring and shallow game. One was stretch goal and the other cost money..

All the coins are the same value which is 1. There are 3 main regions in the story with their own currency which is why there are 3 types of coins. Thanks for the video!

I was initially interested in this game because of the theme. I played this and strangely I think I would like it better with a different theme. I enjoyed the gameplay loop for the most part but I didn't think the win conditions and the fact that you don't have to fight much worked with the theme very well.

It partially worked for me. If I think of the main Witcher storyline, geralt and Ciri and all that, I want a more cohesive narrative and such. But if it’s just random witchers doing their jobs, I think this works pretty well

They were sending retail releases only, and at least as of now wild hunt is only from the Kickstarter editions. I’d like to try it though

I'm glad I passed on this. The solo mode is not interesting to me at all. I always found the poker dice rolling lame. I do find the card combat with the color combo to be very interesting. Glad I listened to my gut on this one.

I enjoy the combat too. I’ve been playing tainted grail: kings of ruin for a review and they are pretty similar, but Witcher is much simpler for better or worse.

I think its more like Middle Earth Quest. The use of the cards to travel, to fight, amongst other similarities. That is quite an underappreciated game.

@juanpablozabala4975 yes, that was the game I thought of most as well. I used to love the movement and combat in that game. The 1 vs many gameplay… not as much 😅
