The witches popping is oddly satisfying...

I thought the potion only turn them into rats, not ejecting the out of their seats and make them go somersault.

They were given a high dosage of the potion. Like when Charlie was given earlier in the movie. In the original, they burp when the transformation started. In this version they shake and convulsed.

As someone who loved the 1990 film. I still loved this one and glad this remake exists. While the original was more iconic, nightmare fuel(which I love), and serious, this one was more light hearted, whimsical and just fun to watch. And it's wholesome that you can tell Angelica Huston and Anne Hathaway both really enjoyed playing as the Grand High Witch in their respective movies. I know a lot of people hated the remake, but for me at least, I'm actually glad to have seen both films. I find it nice that we get a variety of versions these days.

Obviously, it's the slowness of the original version that makes it scarier there. You get to see more of the detail in the process. But at least this version is more energetic. Still, is it just me, or does the High Witch's mouth make her seem like Kuchisake Onna?
